As you say above, not to jump ahead of the gun. But if there is to be a set change, I think it would be best to keep the theatre of news for the NC. Then move London Tonight to the old five News area, and move ITV1 News back to where it used to be, with the newsroom in the background.

But yes, as there are no more details as of yet, this is simply how I would like to see it.

I'd rather the only thing being ditched was Andrea Catherwood.

Interesting where as I'd have gone for the other way around.
I'd keep all main news programmes in the theatre of news, and then do a sky news and move the News Channel into the newsroom/s, possibly designating a new area for them, perhpas the old five news newsroom, what is that area being used for anyway?

That would work too. I was just being nostalgic for the days when the newsroom was in the background of the main ITN news programmes, bar NaT obviously.

I wish they'd dump Mark Austin - his Daily Mail condescending tone may suit the 5 viewers who actually prefer the ITVNC over BBC or Sky or CNN, but for the 7 casual viewers who occasionally pause for a minute on channel 41 it's like being spoken to by a teacher again.

He's the main anchor as of August, with the 6.30 and 10.30 - I very much doubt they'll do that!

All this speculation of a set change when ITV relaunches I believe will turn into nothing major. Don't get me wrong, I would like to see something new, but I think that after only 20 or so months with the current set,we'll only see a different colour/design on the newswall and an alteration of the stings.

In the last 15 years how many times when either BBC1 or ITV1 received new idents, did the news relaunch at the same time?

The only time I can think of was only a change back in 1997 when the BBC changed its logo, so you had B B C NEWS which changed to the Gill Sans logo.

but ITVNEWS will have to make some changes like get rid of the squars

unless the squares then become the new logo for ITV News!
