A wee change tonight albeit slightly odd for a regional presenter as Kylie Pentelow is doing the Sunday. Who did the London bulletin as Kylie is at the National desk..
Faye.
I think Faye could be used on the Saturday Nationals more too. A very good newscaster IMO, always thought her and Charlene were very good. Think Faye is wasted on daybreak regionals.
Who decides who presents? Without getting into a tedious discussion, obviously there's a pecking order but who says who presents what?

Being in the right place at the right time appears to be the best way for these presenters to move up the ladder. Faye was on maternity leave and Charlene moved up the ladder in that period. We've also seen Lucrezia Millarini get more work on the London side since going freelance than when she was contracted.
Considering Faye has a young family, the hours may suit her and ITV News's requirements.

God no! Definitely not suitable IMO. Susanna Reid does not have any gravitas at all. Of course it would be Nina Hossain next in line. Charlene, Ranvir also. Charlotte Hawkins would be more likely really.
I disagree. Susanna Reid is a name, and has a lot more personality. The others you mention, whilst all very good fill-ins, don't (yet anyway) have what it takes to be the main face of a bulletin.
I think if a main position opened up (ie if Julie, Mark, Mary or Alistair left), it would be Susanna Reid they'd use.

Why not?
Nina Hossain absolutely does.
Susanna is good at presenting news in a much lighter format. But she is more of a celebrity than a journalist. She lacks the necessary authority to be the main face of a main bulletin.
Also, ITV have spent a lot of money poaching her in an attempt to get good ratings. If one of Mary, Julie, Mark or Alastair was to leave, they would not move Susanna whilst Good Morning Britain is still quite young and whilst there is a lot more hard work to be done.
Susanna Reid is probably more comfortable on Breakfast Television.
Nina Hossain is experienced, very competent and is the main face of the lunchtime news already, so, if Mary or Julie were to leave, she deserves to be next in line, surely.

Whilst I agree that Nina would be a great replacement, its worth remembering that Susanna Reid had been with the BBC for over twenty years and whilst most well known on Breakfast, she is a 'proper' journalist who could easily fit into any timeslot.
I'm absolutely positive that if GMB goes through some relaunch, and Susanna leaves, she will move to ITV News.

I can see both sides here. On the one hand, Susanna Reid is no different to Natasha Kaplinsky. Just as Natasha worked for Sky News before joining Breakfast, Susanna used to regularly present on BBC News 24 in the early 2000s. So she would easily be capable of presenting a national news bulletin. I think she just hams it up a bit for breakfast TV.
On the other hand, if presenters like Charlene White are not given the opportunity to take on a national bulletin as a main, regular presenter, how will they become well known enough to justifiably present one? It's a chicken and egg scenario.

Should one of the ITV big names (Mary Nightingale or Julie Etchingham) move on, I would think they would fast-track Charlotte Hawkins.

Possibly...is there any talented newsreaders in the regions?
