Whilst I didn't see much of it today. I agree. The Lunchtime News was much better double headed. Was there ever any reason - why the got red of 2 presenters on the LN?
If you scroll back in the old itv news thread you might find something, however I really don't see the point in having 2 presenters for 20 mins. I do agree with yourself about having 2 presenters. It is a real shame.
I will have a look.
But if you think about it, the EN often finishes around 6:52/3 and often has a break, so it works out about 20 mins. Whilst I know some people will say "It's only the news, were not watching for the presenters" I just think the LN seemed better when there were 2 presenters. Especially Alastair & Katie as they had great chemisty.
I agree with you that the LTN was much better with two presenters. To be honest, I'd go so far as to argue that NAT would be far better with just Mark Austin or Julie Etchingham. Having sat in the gallery for the LTN, I know first hand that it is a very hectic programme with lots of lives and news coming in as it develops. The EN and NAT by comarison are a bit more structured with fewer lives. Consequently, I would argue the LTN requires two presenters more than the evening bulletins. That said, the EN and NAT are ITV's flagship programmes and hence they want to show off their talent, so I can see why ITV keeps two presenters on those programmes, with one presenter on the bulletin with the fewest viewers.

I must say, I enjoyed Alastair and Daisy co-presetning today, much better than having Alastair by himself.
