As you will note from my initial post announcing Charlene White's News at Ten debut a few pages back, I am also a fan of the lady.
As for Charlene being the best for delivering a Christmas bulletin, I feel there are several presenters who are equally competent to do so. Namely: Julie Etchingham, Mary Nightingale, Alastair Stewart, Mark Austin, Nina Hossain, James Mates, Matt Barbet, Faye Barker and all the other presenters who handle ITN bulletins day in, day out, including Charlene White. Why are those any less credible than Charlene and what's particularly significant about a Christmas Day bulletin that renders it the only one suitable for Charlene to host?
After all, a news bulletin is a news bulletin, and world events require announcing 365 days a year! If Charlene is good enough for Christmas Day, she's good enough for any day. So, I'm struggling to understand why you've specifically aligned Charlene to the Christmas Day bulletin. You may care to enlighten us.
My point was, Charlene is more warm. As much as I like ALL of the ITV News presenters, she is perfectly suited to Christmas Day. I'm not saying that news doesn't happen on Christmas Day at all. But personally, I am less interested in the news on Christmas Day as it is a day for family, togetherness etc etc... Charlene is by no means any better than Julie, Mary, Alistair, Mark, Nina, Matt, Faye, James, Natasha but there is just something about her tone and style, I can't quite put my finger on it, but she is perfect for Christmas Day in my opinion. As you will see in my previous posts on this topic, I think all the ITV News presenters are superb, but each journalist or presenter is suited to different things. Julie and Mark, and Mary and Alistair are perfect in their positions for example.
You're less interested in the actual news on Christmas Day as its a day for family, etc, etc.......so its ok for Charlene to present it, because hardly anyone is watching anyway!
What I've written in the paragraph above kinda summarises what you're trying to say, I believe.
I still need to know the day's news everyday, wherever or whenever. Christmas is a very warm and fuzzy thing. Charlene is also more warm and fuzzy than, for example, what I call the big 5 (Mark, Mary, Alistair, Julie and Nina). That is my opinion.
Just a note that may be of interest - Christmas Day bulletins on both ITV and BBC tend to be among the most watched bulletins of the year, whether they are just background noise or not.
Lucy Meacock has been presenting today by the looks of the EPG on Sky. Think it's her first appearance since last Summer.
Bet she's been tearing her hair out having to wait nearly 7 hours between the two bulletins this evening, that's if she presented the 4.10pm bulletin that is.

I watched her on ITV News London as well this afternoon.
