Oh, dearie me! This thread has veered off a little bit, methinks. I wasn't aware that we were all so interested in the childcare of newsreader's children.

For what it's worth, I think ITN should bring back Sandy Gall. The news has never been the same since he left.

Well, it is the presenter thread, James. Better here than in the main thread, is it not? For what it's worth I don't care a jot about the childcare arrangements of any newsreader. I'm merely trying to enlighten ginofish with the fact that having a kid doesn't preclude Nina Hossain from presenting the Lunchtime News. It's a nonsensical argument and needs to be challenged.

Yeah It Is better here in the presenter thread rather than in the main presentation thread , I don't rellay give a monkeys about Nina's childcare arrangements , I understand that having a kid does not mean Nina can't present the 1:30 news however it may be she didant want to present it herself If you have to come in a few hours earlier and she may want to spend more time with her child.

Jamie as much as he is an excellent talent i dont think its that realistic . For a start sandys well in to his 80's by now so i doubt we'd see him presenting again on itv news unless it was a very special occasion also I don't think ITV would rellay have room for any more male presenters they already have Mark, Alistair, James , steve and Geraint amungst just four programmes , it's the female side that needs other presenters despite my liking of Daisys presenting she is not a very popular choice I would like to see Helen Fospero on itv news .

Also any word about Fay barker , Alex Forrest and Julian Mnayon.

Guys, as itsrobert undoubtedly knows, I was of course joking about the return of Sandy Gall!!

Whilst I am well known as a traditionalist on TVF, I am only too aware that the return of Sandy would not be a good idea................................unless they can also entice Sir Alistair back as well to make it a worthwhile double-header.

Does anyone remember an anchor on ITN World News many years ago called Katy Haswell? Where is she now?

Yes, I do remember Katy Haswell. As I recall, didn't she work for a travel channel after ITN? I haven't seen her in many years, though.

Mark has presented on a Sunday before!

And as was discussed last week they are using the more senior presenters on a Sunday again now.

I must say, I enjoyed Alastair and Daisy co-presetning today, much better than having Alastair by himself.

Whilst I didn't see much of it today. I agree. The Lunchtime News was much better double headed. Was there ever any reason - why the got red of 2 presenters on the LN?

If you scroll back in the old itv news thread you might find something, however I really don't see the point in having 2 presenters for 20 mins. I do agree with yourself about having 2 presenters. It is a real shame.

I will have a look.

But if you think about it, the EN often finishes around 6:52/3 and often has a break, so it works out about 20 mins. Whilst I know some people will say "It's only the news, were not watching for the presenters" I just think the LN seemed better when there were 2 presenters. Especially Alastair & Katie as they had great chemisty.
