Charlene White on News at Ten tonight with Mark!!

That's a shocker! I presume whoever was down to present has fallen ill last minute?

Edit: No I think she was always scheduled to present tonight according to this tweet from Mark:

It's good that ITN/ITV are giving the likes of Charlene gigs such as NaT, she is more than competent and hopefully this is the start of her appearing on the network more often instead of the odd weekend bulletin...

And Nina Hossain said it would be Mark and Charlene at 10 just before the 6.30 bulletin finished.

The shock will be you, scrolling up this very page!! Zipper

Whoops. Even so it's such shocking news I think it deserved being posted twice! Great to see Charlene pretty much straight up to getting the top gig. Perhaps they're doing a tryout for her like they did with Laura K for a few days before she defected to the other side.

She nailed it! She got the tone right and was very professional! Even got a bit of banter in with Mark- something which Nina sometimes struggles with. I love how down to earth Charlene comes across.

It's nice to have a younger and newer face to the flagship program tonight. Charlene was very good, and had the correct tone of voice at the right times.

Charlene was bang on, nothing more to say about it. Hopefully a certain Mr Hill will now take notice of other younger presenters that are of Charlene's quality and give them a chance to get onto the nationals. I hope Charlene get's more network bulletins instead of being stuck on London...

And also well done to the jib operator, (Matt Freestone I think his name is), his choice of shots are excellent as they make full use of the studio, the London camera shot is executed excellently and the end of the NaT showing the full length of the studios. I really don't think they make full use of the studio when the end shots are opening pan just hover around the desk.
