I'm guessing that Ian Payne is Natalie Pirks replacement?

It would seem so, Gary. Not much fan-fair. Usually a post on Twitter or DS. Not seen anything myself.

Ian Payne announcement was on twitter this morning

Ian Payne is still down to present his regular radio football show on LBC 97.3 on Saturday afternoon.

Hopefully we wont have him freelancing at 5Live anymore - very boring presentation in my opinion

Twenty years ago today, former ITN newscaster Leonard Parkin died. Alastair Stewart tweeted a few months ago saying he was a 'great guy' and a 'joy to work with', and having seen some of his old bulletins on YouTube I can see why. Cheerful, friendly, pleasant, and in my opinion, under-rated.

Doesn't time fly? Fully agree with your sentiments, Sam.

That entire era, which I guess Alastair Stewart is also part of, was incredible. Full of characters and hard as nails journalists.

I rarely get to see ITN in action these days, but I can see a bit of the ITN-classic brand in Mark Austin. There's just something about him, in particular his diction and pronunciation, which reminds me of the glorious era of Burnet Gall Parkin Bosanquet. Same applies for Alastair Stewart, of course.

In fact, ITN is a damn good product all round. I adore News at Ten even today.

Rageh Omaar certainly done the late bulletin. However, I didn't see if the evening was any different.

I think I read somewhere that he is staying with R5L too.

Yes, he's still with 5 Live on Saturdays.

It's quite a strange arrangement he's got with ITV News then - to me at least, it seems pretty uncommon for ITV News to have someone who's working for several other organisations at the same time.
