I really don't like Laura and I feel she's a strange choice of stand-in. I find her cold and condescending, so I doubt I'll be watching it this week.

Surely they could have chosen someone more suitable

To be honest I don't think Laura did that terrible a job. Yes she came across a bit cold and maybe condescending in tone, but it is her first ever stint. It might be the optimist in me but she could improve given time. I think it's good to see ITV News debuting more presenters.

I hope she doesn't do a 'Sarah Heaney' and basically lose her Scottish accent. Viewers of the old Scotland Today will know what I mean...

I'll pass judgement when I've watched it on ITV+1

She's got a case of the Geraint Vincent head shake. In fairness to her it was her first go and she no doubt would have been nervous, however I wouldn't like to see her as a permanent edition to the presenting roster.

I have to agree to an extent that Laura has got a touch of the Geraint Vincent shakey head syndrome but nowhere near Geraint himself. I'm not going to pass judgement until Friday as it could just be first night nerves.

However if they are going to use relief presenters while the 'Main anchors' are on holiday then I do think that they should maybe utilise the London presenters, ie Alex Hill, Charlene White and Sacha Williams.

When is the last time Bill Neely presented a bulletin - don't think I've seen him in the new set.

I think Bill is a decent presenter but it would appear work loads mean he doesn't have time to present. I think he was regular stand in the early 2000's but then disappeared for a while circa 2007-2008 then presented a few in 2009. However I can't recall seeing him during the yellow era and if he did he far from regular and certainly don't think he hosted one in the current 2013 set.

I do agree with using the London presenters on more national bulletins. I think Charlene White & Faye Barker could be promoted onto more high profile shifts (Luchtime News, 6:30 news and Ten) with the likes of Alex Hill, Sacha & Lucrezia to cover the likes of daybreak London and weekend daytime shifts.

Lucrezia already regularly does the weekend morning national updates

And Sacha has been becoming more frequent on the morning weekend bulletins...

Since about 2010, but as he's freelance, his shifts are a bit over the place.
