Im not sure - havent there always been a mix of different presenters on the weekend news? I know Nina used to appear on weekends quite regularly but I remember Geraint, Romilly, Steve also presented those bulletins just as much.

Yes, there was a mix of presenters, but I am more than positive that Nina was the most regular, and presented on both Saturday and Sunday. While she was on her last maternity, Steve was the most regular, and then the brand realignment came into place.

About 2008 there was Nina , Steve , Geraint ,Lucy Meacock and Romilly and they seemed to always present both Saturday and Sunday . then later on James come in to the line-up and then after the brand relignment then it was split one of those did saturday and one of the main newscasters would present the Sunday.

Possibly, but Nina also used to present the Friday Evening News more regularly than the Weekends during that era I think.

she may be taking on Romillys workload then I think she's more suited to presenting than reporting.

I guess so. With Romilly on leave and Nina busy with London Tonight there arent many other female presenters left to stand in for the main presenters.

Are you kidding, Daisy is an awful news presenter! She is more suited to reporting, the way she comes across when sitting is just awkward for a start.

With regards to her presenting this could be a new thing but the Saturday presenter does Friday Lunchtime? Andrea presented last Friday and presented on Saturday.

I find that she's a very good presenter and as ecconomics editor I don't think it's a role which is making the most of her skills she was far better as a presenter or reporting on Politics were she would interview the big heavyweights .however she is prone to making the occasional mistake as a reporter as a presenter she's good and asks the right questions to reporters. I think Libbi Wiener

And yeah Nina can’t present as many 1:30 I suppose because she’s splitting her time between London and in the midlands plus its very demanding being a main regional newscaster and having a young child. and with Steve in Delhi , Geraint in San Jose , Al and Mary doing the 6:30 and 10 plus James presenting so many programmes recently there’s need for a an extra presenter Daisy .Libby Wiener would make a good Economic editor.

Also does anyone know if/ when Faye Barker and Alex Forrest are returning to ITV News and is Julian Manyon still an Itv news correspondent?

Sure, because being the Economics Editor during the country's biggest recession for decades isn't a very demanding and high profile role is it? Rolling Eyes

I can't agree with you about Daisy's presenting skills. Like Macalolo, I think she's distinctly average as a studio presenter. She's awkward and uncomfortable at times. Personally, I think she should stick to reporting.

Your argument that Nina Hossain can't present the Lunchtime News and London Tonight whilst having a young child is, frankly, laughable. If she's presenting on London Tonight, it's feasible that she could also present the Lunchtime News if required. After all, Alastair Stewart and Katie Derham did it every day for years. I think it's more likely to be a contractual reason as to why she doesn't present the national news as often as she did.

I'm Sorry if I was not clear Economics Editor is a very demanding role and high profile position however what I meant was this role is not suited to she spent quite a long time first with the Daily Politics then with ITV News taking on big political heavyweights she must know Westminster inside out and I always found her reports informative. As an economics editor I find that when I watch her that sometimes her reports lack knowledge.

I don't think she's a bad presenter she asks the right questions of the correspondents, introduces the items well and she has plenty of experience.

Also Nina lives between London and the Midlands and the reason I mentioned the young child was if she was presenting LT and ITV News at 1:30 she would have very long days alternating like Katie did. She would have to be in Earlier.

I take your point regarding Daisy's political background. However, I still can't agree with you on the last two points. Presenting is about more than just asking the right questions, which, might I add, are usually agreed in conjunction with the correspondent before the programme. As a presenter, I think Daisy comes across as a bit awkard and nervous at times. She's not horrendous, but she isn't perfect.

I know for a fact that many of the production staff at ITN regularly work very long shifts, sometimes up to 10-12 hours a day. The rules state that they only need to be given an 11 hour break between shifts. Are you telling me that Nina couldn't get from the Midlands to London in time for the LTN and go back again after LT? I'm in Liverpool and it takes less than 2 hours to get to London from here. And how do you know that she doesn't have a flat in London for when she's working there, or that ITV don't put her up in a hotel? As for having a young kid, I seriously doubt that many TV presenters look after their own kids as much as Joe Bloggs would. On their salaries, they probably have a team of nannies.

I'm also in Liverpool Smile , Well I agree with your point that the bulk of TV Presenters don't look after there own kids but Nina does seem to have reduced her hours ever since she got back from leave. but nina would need to be in a few hours before the programme to rehearse , make up etc. I doubt that she would go home at 2pm to come back at 3pm. over Daisy I suppose we will have to agree to disagree I do see your point about her coming across a bit awkard but I think maybe not a main presenter role but as a relief presenter or if ITV had a news channel I think she would be fine.
