Rageh is a bit wooden. Not much charisma, he's just reading the autocue with a blank expression.

Nice to see a new face presenting though, it's about time the presenting team got a breath of fresh air.

I imagine it's just nerves. Many newcomers probably have the same experience. And like you say, nice to have some fresh faces.

He has anchored before on both BBC World & AJ English and he was poor then also.

Is this is same Rageh Omar that presents on AJE's Witness program?

He is definitely far better at reporting. I guess this is where ITV miss the News Channel and to an extent the double headed Lunchtime News where they could try out new presenters, pairing them up with someone more experienced.

Yeah he did. And in fairness to him he handled it quite well considering some things went wrong. Such as Egypt pictures playing out and the weather being cut short.

Has anyone realised that tomorrow it will be a year since the former News at Ten newscaster Alastair Burnet died? He retired before I was born but having seen some of his bulletins on YouTube I can see why he is still held in very high regard at ITN.

I can't believe it's been nearly a year since Sir Alastair's passing - certainly doesn't feel that long.

I'm another one who wasn't around during his tenure at ITN, but internet clips of his many years there have definitely shown me what an amazing and engaging broadcaster he was.

Charlene White on tonight's evening bulletin in the London studio. Has there been a change in the weekend rota and studios? I was under the impression that one person did the morning headlines and the lunchtime news in the national studio then does the London news in the London studio. With a second person doing the evening and late news in the national studios. Has this changed? I know Sacha Williams did the lunchtime news. I haven't caught the weekend news in a fair few weeks.

It changed a few months back on Saturdays. This has led to the likes of Rageh Omaar, Lucy Meacock and James Mates presenting London and then the main bulletin. There is no change to Sunday where the lunchtime presenter (normally a London presenter) covers the regional bulletin.

At one point he was one of the regular News 24 and World joint overnight presenters certainly.

I think that was around about 2000 or 2001, noggin. For a while he alternated with Clarence Mitchell. I think it was after Joanna Gosling stopped doing overnights and before Heather McCarthy and Alastair Yates arrived.
