So what happens when Mark and Alistair are on together or Mary and Julie - does the one who is most butch stay on the left?

I've never seen Julie and Mary or Mark and Alastair together.

I'm sure Julie and Mary hosted one Evening News together. Mark and Alastair have hosted a few, but always with one on location rather than both being in the studio - talking of which it'll be interesting to see the opening shot when that does inevitably happen as having the large screen to feature the on location presenter in the previous set worked really well for the intro.

I have only ever seen Julie present with Katie once in the yellow and black era. Nina and Katie presented the Lunchtime News once as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZQ21vNTkt0

I remember that edition too. The most recent pairing of male newscasters I can think of is Alastair Stewart and Steve Scott, who presented the Evening News together in the studio as opposed to one on location - it was sometime in 2009 during the skyline era.

It's interesting how same-sex presenter teams aren't done much anymore at ITV News aside from few odd random occasions noted above, considering it happened a great deal in years gone by. Alastair Burnet and Sandy Gall for example, not to mention both Alastairs. I'm sure I remember Julia Somerville and Carol Barnes presenting the Lunchtime News together at one point during the 1990s. There was also Andrea Catherwood and Felicity Barr for the Weekend News IIRC, but I think Barr was the sports presenter rather than actual co-newscaster.

Nina was available that day if irrc, she presented the late news with Al.

I wonder if Nina is now sole presenter of the lunchtime news rather than sharing the role with Alastair?

Alastair is down on the schedule for a few lunchtime bulletins next week.

Ive got Al on monday, Nina on tuesday, Steve Scott on Wednesday... is it possible to get more than a week?

James Mates is down to do Thursday, with Nina on Friday.

4 presenters in five days! It's about time they got someone regular on the lunchtime news!
Get Faye Barker in! She's twiddling her thumbs now the 5:30s been axed!
In all seriousness now, regardless who it is to a certain extent they need a new, regular main presenter on the lunchtime news.

I thought it was Alastair Mon,Tue and Fri and Katie Derham on Wed Thu, then when Nina took over, Nina did Wed and Thu. It still is sometimes like that, just becoming less consistent

Interesting that it was Chris Ship presenting today when Romilly Weeks was live on location as Political Correspondent.

Normally it would be the other way round.

Romilly presenting is probably the worst. Keep her as a reporter.

Romilly is by no means the worst presenter, in fact far from it. Sally Biddulph is a case of "stick to the day job" (reporter), as is Geraint.

Sally Bidulph is no longer classed as a presenter

That's rather a sweeping statement to make. Romilly Weeks' presenting style might not be universally loved but she can certainly do the job properly. In fact, I'd argue that Geraint Vincent, who is a great solid reporter, is weaker in the studio than her.
