I do agree with you, Ison, that the original era was the best. I think most news programmes in the late 80s and early 90s had a simplicity to them which has gradually been eroded. Plus, I think they put more effort into it back then as it was a new venture. Once the late 90s had rolled round that's when things started to slip a bit.
Mind you, some of the early presenters were a bit scary for night time! Zeinab, David Cass, Richard Bath and some others were OK, but Phil Roman, Tim Neilson and Mark Webster were a bit frightening!! I always remember that Mr Roman never ever smiled. Not once! Look at this:

Is geraint leaving or something? Mark has been available along with steve scott. Seems strange not to use these 2 as they are more familiar on screen.

I take it there was no 5:30 news today? Despite it been in the epg. Did the Nightshift continue to 6 on STV or finish at 5:30 as it usually does, but what did it show at 5:30?
