I'm actually very surprised that Rachel has never done the national bulletins before. I think she would be perfect for the Lunchtime or Evening bulletins.
I assume the last Morning News will be marked in some way tomorrow- significant news moments its covered over the years etc
If I'm honest, I would be very surprised if that happens. Any other bulletin, maybe, but I don't think they'd go all-out for the Morning News. It's hardly a bulletin that's been recognised as having a central role in the nation. They looked back on News at Ten in 1999 because it was an iconic programme. The Morning News has always been a fairly run-of-the-mill extended summary. As I recall, they even used to pad it out with the ITN World News as long ago as the early 90s! I think the most we'll get is a brief mention that it's the last one.
That's not to say that we can't reminisce! Here's the Morning News theme I always consider the most memorable:

I'm particularly fond of that look for the ITN Morning News, especially as it was just incredibly simple but pretty powerful at the same time. And it always reminds me of awakening far too early in the morning and putting the TV on because you can't sleep. The bulletins which were also based on the same look and theme also remind me of staying up too late!
Although I wasn't ALWAYS up to watch the morning news, I have to say it was a great digest of the news even if it most of it was a re-run of News at Ten. I always liked the simplicity - something which you just don't get in a news bulletin these days.
