I think the strident drum beats are more than enough to signify the end of the theme. Perhaps it's the fact I usually listen to it on a surround sound system as opposed to a tinny TV speaker.
The penultimate part of the them for Sky and BBC are both big and bold, as if it was actually saying 'this is the nd of the theme' while the end of the ITV theme just sounds as if there is more of theme, but it just fade into a bed.

Because the theme tune was created on a Digital Audio Workstation, it's very easy to tweak it and refresh it.
Although they might update from scratch...who knows?

Daisy is of course a long running member of the team but throughout her service to ITN I never really felt as if her role showed through. Her chief political correspondent always seemed to be overshadowed by Tom Bradby and then she was effectively dropped for Laura Kuennesburg to become business editor. Her role as "special correspondent" on the Lunchtime news in recent weeks was slightly redundant and really she just stuck to to stories about children. Even when she presented she was rather awkward but notably was called into cover Mary Nightingale on the News at 6.30. I hope pastures new offer her a role where she can show how journalism skills a lot more as I had no doubt that of her background. For me though not really a big loss.

Im not sure I agree with everything you say. I though she was excellent as Economics Editor. I vividly remember her reporting almost nightly on the News at Ten from the City at the beginning of the financial crisis and I thought she was far superior to Peston or Stephanie Flanders. I thought that with a little more practice she could have become a very capable presenter. However, I do agree with you that her role has become redundant in recent times.

If anything she was a lot more accessible than her rival which I guess was one good point. The stories she reported on as Economics editor had to be addressed in a way that could be understood by everyone. However I don't think she showed as much flare compared to Kuennesburg and wasn't she quoted as saying that she never knew a thing about business. With a little bit more of a bigger role after her economic position she as you say could have become a better presenter but I guess for her she may have felt the ride at ITN may have stopped on its tracks.

Sorry but she was totally out scooped in the role by both of her better connected rivals. Decent communication skills can only cover up for so much. There is a reason why Laura and Richard Edgar were bought in. She should have never have had the position in the first place.
Curious as she was famously on maternity leave at the time.

I think her unpopularity in Westminster probably affected her role, Private Eye reported cross party disgust at her role in the downfall of Charles Kennedy.

Faye Barker presented her last 5:30 today. I missed it, thanks to my sky+
Does anyone have it? And did she mention it was her last?

I can also remember reading something where she said she has no interest in business or economics. I bet that didn't endear her to management either.
I don't think she'll be that big a loss, she hasn't really done anything for a while. They've just shoehorned her in here and there probably to fulfil her contract.
