Apologies if mentioned previously, but Mark Austin, Mary Nightingale and Alastair Stewart are reporting for ITV's coverage on Tuesday along with both Nina Hossain and Natasha Kaplinsky.

Is there any need for two separate anchor teams to handle the 6.30 and 10? Lots of local stations in the US have the same anchor teams at both 6pm and 11pm.

I find it extraordinary too especially when you consider the big cuts ITN have faced over the years.

Heck, why have two anchors on each bulletin. The BBC do okay with single anchors on the One, Six and Ten . Why does ITV News have to be double anchored?

And those BBC presenters also have second anchoring jobs, Sophie does the headlines at the end of every hour on BBC ONE from 10am, George presents GMT on BBC World and Huw does the 5 o clock news on the News channel.

Even if the bulletin remained double headed, It wouldn't kill Julie and Mark to do the both slots each night.

Double headed pairings make ITV News uniquely different from BBC's main programs as well as the majority of sky's. It's partly one of the reasons why I watch ITV News, as you probably have all see me post on the ITV News thread that I love the banter between Mark Austin and Julie Etchingham, if you take that away then what have you got just another copy of the BBC. I imagine all anchors are very busy throughout the day, I doubt it's just a case of turning up hours before, and you could argue that with BBC is there any need to cross over to the BBC sports centre when the newsreader could do it? It's just elements that build up into the news institutions to make them different for the next broadcaster.

The same could be said for the regional anchors. For example in Granadaland Lucy and Tony take it in turns to do the late bulletin, as well as co-anchoring the evening programme and it works well.

I had a tweet just now from Alastair Stewart, stating that Sir Alistair B is rather unwell.

That's sad news. For me, and for many others, Sir Alastair *was/is* ITN.

Generally in the Tyne Tees and Border region, we get Pam and Ian doing the main 6pm programme and one will do lunchtime bulletin the other does the late bulletin

I see Nina is back on the telly, but Nathasha is still around, do we know if she'll go or stay?

I would like to see them both stay with Natasha doing LT Tue-Fri, then Nina doing the national weekends and Mon's LT. With them both sharing duties of the 1:30 news.

Unless you were to remove Alatsair from the LN or put London Tonight back to a double headed bulletin then really it would be hard to think of a suitable position for both.

Stick Nina on London Tonight and Natasha on 1.30pm bulletin. Natasha leaves LT altogether, Nina covers for Natasha when Natasha is doing News at 10 so shes still on the nationals. Leave weekends as they are. Problem solved. There is space for them both and if Nina was ever going to get a prominent position she would have got one by now. Natasha appears quite a lot and has settled in nicely. When I first heard she was joining I thought it was a silly move but I now prefer her to Mary and Julie.

Staff shortages on ITV News at 5.30 over past couple of days. Steve Clamp presented yesterday, and Sian Jones today.

I was exactly the same, I thought it was going to be all razzle dazzle since she is classed as a 'Celebrity' but now I think she has settled into ITV News very well. My only gripe is, if she is this good on ITV News now, why wasn't she brought in ages ago?

I disagree guys! Nina is a prominent figure at ITV, if she wasn't they would not have kept her around when Katie Derham was still there. Plus like Mary, Mark and Al I see Nina as Itv News. Julie is getting there!

If Natasha is going to stay, she should get Nina's old job when Katie was there. Friday on LT and Saturday National with fill in as and when required.

Aha. Ok!

By the way, I think Alastair Stewart is hilarious. Did anyone read his Twitter last night whilst the tennis was on?

Brillianto.
