Julie Etchingham is easily the best signing ITV have made in a very long time and it is no surprise really she has found herself effectively their number one newsreader now. I suspect if Mark were ever to leave ITV News they'd let Julie fly solo with News at Ten - but if Julie left I'm not so sure they'd let Mark go it alone.

Faye Barker at 9:25 this morning, that's unusually isn't? she was on at 5:30 yesterday, I'm sure usually the presenter who will do the upcoming 5:30 news usually does the weekends, which I believe is Charlene. Unless they changed it as Faye only did two bulletins (as she covered on LT) so they decided to give her this weeks too?
But on another note, totally agree about Julie she the best of the 'main 4' if you like. She comes across lovely on screen.

Hasn't he already anchored the late news bulletin on his own? I'm sure he presented the ITV News at 10.30 (effectively News at Ten) between Trevor's first retirement and the 2008 relaunch.

You could argue the same about Mary. She was very much ITN's leading lady but seems to have been cast aside in the last couple of years. Having said that, I'm not sure Mary could 'lead' the entire ITV News team in the way that Julie could should Mark leave. That said, I see Julie as the main presenter anyway.
Of course he did but ITV aren't pushing him as the face of their coverage in the way that they did initially. He could do with another war really - that's when he excels IMO, anchoring on location.

Did anyone see today's 5:30? My sky+ failed, who presented?
JO
It was Bruce Forsyth, acting as a guest presenter.
Hope that helps.

Aww really? I thought Tess Daly and Vernon Kay were going to do it together? Shame really...

Jon Gilbert at 5:30 today, first time I've seen him for about 6 months or so!
