They're letting anyone host at the moment then rather than using Nina - you'd think it would make more sense for Andrea to cover London Tonight and Nina to switch to the Evening News.
They definitely need to properly replace Katie Derham as main cover because it does begin to look unprofessional when you've got different faces popping up all the time. That goes hand in hand with the 1.30pm news, Alastair is a good newsreader and I do like him but I get sick of the sight of him, he's just on far too much! Andrea would probably be the best woman for the job but ITV missed out by not hiring Emma Crosby whilst they had the chance.

I imagine it won't be long till she's permanantly at ITN - it's clear they like her as she's almost always on at the weekend and with this three-week attachment, perhaps a sign of things to come? No-one has really replaced Katie Derham and Nina does London Tonight, so perhaps on the hunt for someone new.

I would defiantly love to see Andrea have a more fixed weekday role on the national news, they may be expecting big things of Andrea however she does have commitments to ITV Wales how easy they will be to break I don't know. Just shows they are willing to chose Andrea rather than Romilly-not a bad decision mind. As to Nina she presents London Tonight, he main role-covering the national news is second in line which is the way things should be.
They should hire somebody permanently but this three week stay at ITN as DrewF says may just be testing the water so to speak.
As for Alastair Badger264 I totally agree with you, have always said that he seems over worked having presenting most bulletins in a week and sometimes 4 (including news summary) in a day. Would love to see more of Steve Scott in the presenting rota.
Nina doing London Tonight probably is all she wants. Surprised they haven't replaced Katie but I think they were trying to make it work without. But then all the change with London Tonight down to a solo, means they have really lost a second. Lucy Meacock was never replaced although I don't think she was part of the main team.
Emma not joining was something I am unsure about. I wanted her to take the Lunchtime Bulletins, Alastair & Mary for Evenings and Mark and Julie doing then. You know who presents what and get a good all round team to me. For all we know maybe Emma didn't want to join?!
I thought I read that Andrea didn't want to move to London or something?
NOTE: visiting the www.itv.com/news, hover the cursor over 'News Blogs' and see Katies name still on their.

Emma was practically begging for work during and after the demise of GMTV so she probably would have done it, although now time has passed and she has more permanent work she doesn't seem to fond of ITV anymore, and who can blame her. If they were never going to give Emma the job, I do think ITV should have used ex-GMTV staff and had Helen Fospero fronting London Tonight with Nina moving up to do the lunchtime news and national cover.
Lucy Meacock was only there whilst there was a shortage of female presenters. Katie was on London Tonight whilst Nina and Romilly went on maternity leave around the same time. Mary had a lot of time off and Julie rarely appeared outside of News at Ten. Lucy was great and has been offered a permanent job on national news in the past but has declined. I don't think she'll ever leave Granada Reports until she retires or unless she is sacked, and I can't see either happening any time soon.
Andrea IMO doing a great job covering the ITV News at 6.30...wonder where Mary is?
Just a random thought but when she returns I just wonder if she may have had some cosmetic surgery lol
