It's good to see Shiulie Ghosh back at ITV. Hopefully she will get some presenting duties. She can do Charlene's job, and Charlene can go back to London news.


Shiulie is a freelance. Charlene is an ITN employee.


The same could be said regarding Natasha Kaplinksy, she is freelance and ended up presenting for quite a while.

Natasha was never an ITN employee.

I never said she was, I said she was freelance and ended up presenting for a number of years. Did you read what I wrote?

Neither Charlene or Ranvir had got their big break at that point though and we're still seen as the sort of presenter who only gets used on Christmas Day or Spring Bank Holiday Monday. There seems to be enough presenters on the staff to cover all eventualities now.

It seems they are short staffed at the moment, No Nina, Mary, Tom & Julie are presumably busy with referendum stuff, Steve is reporting in France, James has been reporting this week, so has Ranvir, so there's only Alastair, Mark, Charlene and Rageh available to present. TBH I'd like to see Neil Connery given the chance to present a weekend bulletin

Given that ITN have so many people in their roster/pool would they ever need to call someone like Lucy down anymore

They still have regional presenters covering bulletins on weekends quite often, like Kylie Pentelow or Jonathan Hill.

Saturday PM and Bank Holidays is when you're likely to see a regional presenter cover a ITV News shift, which also includes the ITV News London bulletin.

Off the top of my head, the main ones are:

Kylie Pentelow (ITV West Country)
Jonathan Hill (ITV Wales)
Andrea Byrne (ITV Wales)
Lucrezia Millarini (ITV London/Freelance)
Charlene White (ITV London/National)

I would hardly call Charlene White an occasional regional reserve. She seems to be Mary's number two now and is firmly part of the main team.

Alistair Stewart presenting today. Obviously they're drafting in the head presenters across the weekend due to the news.
