ITV News: Rotas & Presenters

Again, solid but that's it.

I think Kylie replaced Andrea on the Saturday rotation of presenters for the London/Evening bulletins.

When Andrea went on leave, Jonathan Hill took over and Kylie began to fill in when he was not available.

Andrea seems to have fallen out of favour from the Nationals since she took her sabbatical. Jonathan Hill taking preference from ITV Wales. I think Kylie and Lucy are the best of the regional presenters and I'm a great fan of ITV of utilising their regional talent on the weekend bulletins. Shame the BBC don't have the guts to do the same.

They have used Riz from BBC London appear every now & then. But the BBC have a large number of presenters available without the extra expenses for local news teams to get involved.

To be honest, I'd rather have Charlotte, Susanna, Ranvir, Pip, Louisa, Nick, John and even Kate from GMB to stand in. Before you all rant along the lines of "How the HELL could you EVER want Kate Garraway on the national news?", she has redeemed herself from the 'giggly, squeaky, annoying' person that you all made her out to be during the last bit of GMTV and both Daybreak's (a side to her I personally didn't notice at all!), she's a very competent newsreader and interviewer, and always has been since her Sky days, and would be great on the weekend news, as would the rest of the GMB newsreaders.

I would love to see Kate Garraway be given a chance on the Nationals.

Yes, people tend to forget Kate garraway is a journalist but obviously took a different career path. However, I don't think she is suited to ITV news.

I would give it at least a year before seeing Susanna Reid begin to make appearances on the nationals like Ranvir does.

Reid will certainly move to ITV News if this incarnation of ITV Breakfast is replaced.

I think ITV Breakfast is cursed compared to presenters from morning programmes like BBC Breakfast/News does. I don't think I could ever imagine Kate or Susanna on the main news bulletins. I've never seen John do it in the last three decades. Not that I wouldn't want to not see that happen to John.

They had a stint around 2006/7 when ITV got John Stapleton and Andrew Castle to co-present London Tonight when Alastair was off IIRC.
