ITV News Revamp: One Year On

One thing that still irritates me is the graphics package - TTTV seem to have regular problems, including the whole of last night's 10.50 transmission from Bilsdale being covered by 'Patricia Hewitt MP - Trade and Industry Secretary'. Even after the DOG faded off for the weather the aston was still on air, and it's not a rare occourance - but the old graphics certainly didn't have as many faults. The astons have stopped fading since last night, I assume the generating machine/computer is broken.
The DOG also irritates me, and clearly doesn't have much impact here - people keep asking me if it's a tuning aide!

the DOG is very annoying I have to agree. I notice the national news doesn't get it.

I don't like the new weather graphics I have to say, very plain and cheap looking. The old ones were much nicer and the ITV Weather logo looks tacky.

Is Calendar the only regional ITV news programme not to feature a DOG? For a short while they had the four squares but without the name above it. I often get the feeling though that Calendar generally can't be arsed.

Westcountry doesn't have a DOG on screen, which is good as from what I have seen in other regions it gets in the way of other graphics.

ITV Wales News also dont feature a DOG during bulletins.

I guess most if the regions use a DOG on screen to give the regional brands more air time, as it were and also so that if you tune in after the titles, viewers know their watching their local news.

Granada Reports/Granada News had a DOG on screen for the first couple of weeks after the revamp last year, but it then disappeared and now only appears on the astons and straps.
