ITV Lunchtime News - Nick Owen and Shulie Ghosh
ITV Evening News - Mark Austin and Nina Hossain
ITV Nightly News - James Mates (Felicity and Steve would share the sport)
Andrea Catherwood would stand in for Shulie and Nina when needed, and Mark Austin would stand in on the Nightly News. Nick Owen would stand in on the Evening News.
Weekends - Lucy Owen, Lauren Taylor, Andrea Catherwood.
Not a bad line-up there Jez. But I would move Shulie Ghosh to the weekend shifts and re-introduce Katie Derham to the ITV Lunchtime News.
Not a huge fan of Katie Derham I have to say. Shulie Ghosh is one of the best presenters on the I.T.V national news IMO and I think she deserves to have a regular slot on the weekday bulletins.
I have to say that I agree about Nina Hossain getting a permanent role with ITV News. Hopefully, bosses will be so impressed with her and give her a bigger slice of the cake.
I know this is nothing to do with this thread - but I am going to be a rebel, and say that I have just seen ABC World News Tonight webcast with Elizabeth Vargas. She is one of the replacements for the legend that was Peter Jennings. It was very good! An idea which may catch on here very soon? She may even be as good as my fav US anchor; Lynne Russell of CNN Headline News fame. (Sorry boss people)
Was is co-presented by Bob Woodruff and Liz Vargas, or are they just going to switch between the two?
Hi there Television, yes Bob was in Iran.
As for Jonathan's comments about Nina - I will make my comments much more clearer; Nina is not one of the main newcasters at ITV News. I wish she was, but that title goes to Nicholas Owen, Katie Derham, Mary Nightingale, Mark Austin and when she comes back - Andrea Catherwood. As far as I have been led to believe she is at present, a stand in newscaster! If I am wrong, and she has a main role in the new line-up I am sorry.

Agree about Katie, the nodding gets irritating (Lucy Owen adopted this on her Christmas day bulletin!). Shiulie is a bit too bland.
Yes, I used to like her when she was a 'straight' newsreader, but her mannerisms (nodding and inane simpering) when she's trying to have good "chemistry" with her Lunchtime News and London Tonight co-presenters are extremely irritating.
I have to say that I agree about Nina Hossain getting a permanent role with ITV News.
Only if she stops pronouncing "us" as "uz" and "Iraq" as "Irack" (admittedly a lot of news readers do that last one).

ITV Nightly News - Katie Derham/Mark Austin
I have really liked Katie Derham's reading of the night-time news in the past but doubt that time would suit her current situation.
In general I think Katie takes a while to settle when given a new co-presenter; I would maintain that she works very well with Alastair Stewart once they have been presenting together for a week or two, (and hopefully she will be back soon!).
As has been pointed out ITV have been sourcing their stand-ins from all parts of the network so I'm sure that there will continue to be plenty of Nina for those people who like her.
I do think on the whole ITV have got their best presenters in the right slot. I'm not sure how long Mark Austin hosting both the evening bulletins will work for, but it does seem the right option at the moment.
I'm going to think about this more logically, with the same main presenters and regular secondary presenters (in brackets)
Lunchtime News: Nicholas Owen (Alistair Stewart), Katie Derham (Nina Hossain)
London Tonight: Alistair Stewart (Steve Scott), Nina Hossain (Felicity Barr)
Evening News: Mark Austin (Steve Scott), Mary Nightingale (Katie Derham)
Nightly News: Mark Austin (James Mates), Felicity Barr (Steve Scott)
Weekend News - I'd introduce a 30-minute programme at 12.30pm (inc Regional News) and fix the early evening edition to 5.30pm, again 30-mins with regional news. The late-night 15-min programme goes out around 11pm.
Weekend News at 12.30: Andrea Catherwood (Bill Neely)
Weekend News at 5.30: Andrea Catherwood (Bill Neely), Sport with Steve Scott
Remember that Bill Neely may not be able to cover because of his reporting duties - in fact I haven't seen him present the Weekend or LN for a while now.

Lucy Owen has always done that on the local ITV Wales bulletins!
