All concerned should be rightly pleased with themselves for getting the bulletin on air, and Julie did a cracking job... no autocue and she was still better than 'you know Huw'
Very Happy

Needs to work on the pauses (as in there weren't any, possibly due to the compressed slot) but overall I liked her delivery and thought it better than usual, which is so even that it doesn't sound natural.

Presumably Mark stayed at Gray's Inn Road in case the power came back (as well as the logistical problems of filming them both in the smaller studio removing that option).

I suppose so. As me and someone else suggested , he might be heading for Haiti, but just thought Mary said " Join Mark & Julie later on", so he would have presented from Haiti tonight if that was the case.

Was Mark back today? It has been Alastair on NaT with Julie so far this week.

Although it wasn't Alastair anyway tonight - you could of fitted him in the Millbank studio ( height related joke Laughing )

I'm afraid to say Sangeeta Bhabra's awful delivery on Meridian does make you appreciate how slick all the ITN/ITV London presenters are.

I know - I think shes quite bad and that awfully annoying weather presenter! Mad

I'm sure most viewers wouldn't have noticed any differences at all, very good work by the NAT team, until of course here in London we got Meridian Tonight afterwards, which would have been a surprise. But not as surprising as seeing ex-Children's BBC presenter Simon Parkin doing the weather afterwards!

The 'local' bulletin for the Meridian West area is too large and hardly local in any sense of the word.

As said, very well handled. You can see the close of the bulletin here.

Does anybody know what STV told their viewers at ten
o'clock?

I guess they could have got away with telling them there were "technical problems" and they wouldn't have been lying, even though that wasn't the main reason it was delayed.

Thanks to those that capped it - and proof Julie Etchingham has been a real asset to ITV - definately the best female newsreader around at the moment.

I wonder if any other channels were affected by the power problems.

ITN don't broadcast much else from there these days but a company called Globecast have their london base in the ITN building. Many channels pass either through or are uplinked by GC (I think their earth station is on the roof) and they have some sort of playout facility too

God if it happened earlier on before the EN - you'd have to have London Tonight , the EN, then C4 news all relocate! Laughing

Well, I cannot believe I've missed all this. There was me thinking, footie so I opted for the Wii missing Sangers return to London.

Looking at the clip above, you'd hardly notice the difference apart from the missing studio pans. Very well handled.

Believe me, it's still a surprise for regular viewers and he's been the main presenter for nearly a year now! Laughing
