ITV playout might have a back up copy of the summary titles for situations like tonight, so maybe the titles weren't technically part of the programme but played in the same way as an advert/ident.
Having a spare copy of your titles and graphics at the backup site is easy.... it's having the important stuff that's more difficult. If someone's just finished cutting a story on a system that's not powered then there's not much you can do to get that to your backup site
Oooh Meridian Tonight here in London for obvious reasons
I wonder how ITN managed to play out their packages from Millbank, with everything being server based nowadays you can't just chuck them all into a bag and take them with you. Maybe they have a mirror of part of their server

TV Geek was right!!
Well they did a great job in the circumstances - I wonder what will happen to the News at 5:30, not to mention the news summary before it. (That airs at 01:35 tonight. Scrapped or from Millbank?)
EDIT: not 01:35 after all - 02:20.
I'd say the news summary will be scrapped and 5.30am news will come from Millbank if the studios are unavailable. The easy solution would just be to put a few kids shows on or start GMTV early.

That is the same building but I don't think it's the same facility. Millbank Studios is owned by ITV (Granada before that) The BBC, Sky and ITN all have their own section/floor the facilities on the website are the hireable ones.
Seems that all 3 use their respective parts of Millbank as a standby site for their news broadcasts, Sky broadcast from their last year when their sound desk blew up
oh ok, also was right they do have a back up generator but

We have back up generators of course but system must have failed.

As is always the case. I've been in more situations where UPS/generator systems have failed then they have actually taken over!
And of course just because you have a working generator and UPS system it doesn't mean that the power won't go off, faults can occur elsewhere in the electrical system. IIRC that happened a few years ago the BBC News - there was plenty of power but a bus-bar or similar failed

Needs to work on the pauses (as in there weren't any, possibly due to the compressed slot) but overall I liked her delivery and thought it better than usual, which is so even that it doesn't sound natural.
Presumably Mark stayed at Gray's Inn Road in case the power came back (as well as the logistical problems of filming them both in the smaller studio removing that option).
All concerned should be rightly pleased with themselves for getting the bulletin on air, and Julie did a cracking job... no autocue and she was still better than 'you know Huw'
