I think these generic regional studios have improved with each relaunch.

I do agree though I hope Wales keep the desk. I've said before the generic set could be adapted very easily for a desk - just put a desk where the sofa area is and then I'd move the big screen (or have two) to the side for reports etc.

I wouldnt expect any new studios to be introduced until after the relaunch, as it isnt worth launching a new studio now, and having a completley new look in a few months. Thats one good things about ITV's regional sets, the whole look can change in minutes, and nothing in their is related to the four squares, except what is displayed on the screens.

It hasn't been confirmed that 'the relaunch' will effect regional news. I doubt it myself as news and channels never change at the same time

I personally don't think the revamp will effect the news at all. I think they will just drop the blue and yellow identity from itv1, but keep the same typeface, meaning that there is no reason for the news to change. I doubt very much that the revamp would be too radical.

I remember reading that Central News South is going to have this style of set at some point, as West & East have the same sort of set.

Though they're not the same in the Regions they are in, as only London Tonight, Central News West and Granada Reports use Live views of the cities they are based in, where as Calendar and Central News East use floating squares and maybe a shot or two of their Region, whilst Meridian Tonight has a still background, which doesn't look like a proper screen. Anyone care to explain why it is like this?

Yes meridans look like carboard considring they moved into those state of the studios is not very good is it.

AFAIK Meridian's backing is not a real plasma, but layers of cardboard... As least they sorted out the DOG clashing with the four squares logo on the plasma...

scotland today and north tonight will be getting a corporate inspired set this year - even if they're not part of ITVplc. Scotland Today and North Tonight both alrerady have updated the graphics on screen.

I do feel though that ST will need to be more flexible than the NT equivelant as the St set also houses:
Politics Now
Seven Days
and Scotsport FIRST - who do not use the sofas but use another set in the same studio. A dead giveawy is tha click wood floor. Very Happy
