ITV Wales are apparently getting a new studio later this year. About time too as we have had the current studio since March 2001, with only minor changes in Feb 2004.

Are there any plans to put these studios in the other remaining regions. Anglia and Westcountry and Border could do with it. Also has any one got ant pictures of the NEW Central News West Set.

I do. We have had the same studio for 4 years now, apart from minor changes last year, all the did was make it more blue (in line with the other regions) and change the camera angles to make it look different.

Well a year or so ago I would have agreed, but given the choice as we now know it I can't see how it's an improvement.
Mind you as you say, it is coming [as it is in the West, next month isn't it?]
I hope they can adjust the style a little to keep a desk. Despite the pathetic 'text us your poorly articulated shouting' and the occasional competition [how Welshy was the last winner on the phone], it's still a fairly formal news programme.

Well I just think any changes would be nice as it will be something different. I do hope they keep the smaller studio that they use for GMTV/Weekend bulletins (mind you on Friday I noticed they used the large studio for GMTV bulletins and I missed them this morning, but im assuming it was because of the election results on Friday?), the smaller studio looks MUCH better than it did before the changes last year. Is it next month? I hadnt heard that.
I agree that the program is still very well produced, I watched both the lunchtime and 6pm bulletins today and they were very good. Compaired to the ITV national news its very formal, as a news program should be. I dont like the competitions, text in with your views and all that stuff either, but otherwise its still of a high standard. Lucy seemed very cheerful tonight, I think she likes having Tara with her on the program, they clearly get on well.

I remember reading that Central News South is going to have this style of set at some point, as West & East have the same sort of set.
Though they're not the same in the Regions they are in, as only London Tonight, Central News West and Granada Reports use Live views of the cities they are based in, where as Calendar and Central News East use floating squares and maybe a shot or two of their Region, whilst Meridian Tonight has a still background, which doesn't look like a proper screen. Anyone care to explain why it is like this?

I doubt Border will get a new set in the near future, the current one was only introduced in February last year. And as we all know, Border are not known for changing their sets that often !!!
Anyway, the current set is quite nice, although there could be a little more experimentation with camera angles, the camera attached to the ceiling is hardly ever used. Plus there is no wide shot of the studio at the start / end of the programme, which I don't like.

It will soon be one of the few ITV regional studios left with a proper desk - which is best. Anyway Lookaround is quite newsy, and so I don't think a sofa - driven look would suit it.
However, I agree some other regions desparetly need a new look, including Wales, West, TTTV and Anglia. Westcountry's doesn't look too bad.

I wouldnt expect any new studios to be introduced until after the relaunch, as it isnt worth launching a new studio now, and having a completley new look in a few months. Thats one good things about ITV's regional sets, the whole look can change in minutes, and nothing in their is related to the four squares, except what is displayed on the screens.

It hasn't been confirmed that 'the relaunch' will effect regional news. I doubt it myself as news and channels never change at the same time
