Has anyone phoned up the 0870 600 6766 number with info about the ITV News channel.

Its a total joke! That Chav who has recorded the message wants to be given her P45. Its full of errors! For a start she KEEPS on calling it the ITN News channel (Yes, I know it really is the ITN news channel, just branded as the ITV News Channel, but its not the point), Also She refers to Wales and West as HTV!, and listen to the way she says "Meridian", you can tell she has never even heard of the name!

i'd imagine people are far more familiar with "HTV wales" and "HTV west" than the new names. the helpline is just recognising that fact.


I think the 'Wales' part is the give away not whether the 'H' has been replaced with an 'I'

would your average punter know the difference between itv west and itv westcountry though?


I would imagine even the 'average punter' punter would know if they lived in the west country or not. West Country is not just a term used by ITV.

we have been down this road before - the term west country can be used to describe the area around bristol. south west describes the area served by westcountry tv.

Right If someone in Bristol has been bothered enough to pick up the telephone and call the number to find out when the itv nc is returning im guessing they watch itv and therefore watch itv west news, if on the phone they here a list of regions including itv west and itv westcountry im pretty sure they will know which applies to them. People aren't that stupid, you dont need to have an interest in the media to know which local tv station you watch. im sure people would be able to see the link between htv west and itv west. But if the name had been changed to say, 'itv east of wales west of london south of the north and north of the south west', i could understand your point.

what is your point? that they are inaccurate? nobody is disputing that.

are you disputing that using the name "htv west" eliminates any confusion that there maybe between itv west and itv westcountry, 2 very similar sounding names - one of which uses the name associated with the area covered by the other? bearing in mind that itv themselves have mixed the 2 stations up themselves in the past iirc, they played the wrong ident on one of them.

Well I think ITV West and Westcountry should merge and become one ITV region, that would solve the problem of all this confusion over the name.

As for Wales, well as far as im concerned HTV is no more and the ITV region is called ITV Wales.

Perhaps ITV West should join Meridian as Meridian West and the current Meridian West should become Meridian North?

ITV NC returned to the Central region earlier this week, and according to someone on DS today it's back on Emley Moor too.

No, I don't think so.

Granada apparently back too now - looks like they are rapidly catching up with the original timetable.

So the ITVNC is now on DTT in:
- London
- Central
- Yorkshire
- Tyne Tees
- Granada

IIRC Granada, Yorkshire and Tyne Tees were supposed to reappear at the same time of 'Mid-April', quite surprised really as I thought it was going to be delayed, as Central came on a month later than expected.
