Well this is what NTL are displaying, the logo from the time when they had a stake in the channel. NTL take the Satellite feed, so as said there was a one second clip of a still with an ITN generated caption saying the channel had closed, but NTL quickly put their own on.
I have to say I'm going to miss it, I miss it already, as like many people on here such as Londoner and Andrew it is my preferred choice of News channel and it is hard to accept it won't be there no more.
As for the day it was rather well done, Owen and Faye were fantastic, serious when they had serious stories and having a laugh when there were less serious stories and the countless silly links to ITV Traffic Updates. They went out well, I didn't think they lost any credibilty during this period, glad to see Owen got the last word on the last main News.
The farewell programme was well produced and was rather more ITN influenced rather than ITV influenced, it pointed how critical people like Alastair are to the channel, and how hard the team at ITN work considering the lack of funding. They did a good job, there wasn't much of a "We hate ITV" vibe to it, they accepted the channel had problems from day one. Plus it was good to see Alastair got the final word and they put 'An ITN Production' at the end, which was expected considering it was the end of an ITV News service. Shame they had to spoil it with adverts!
