Considering News Channels are meant to 'roll' and cling to the 'stay with us' lines - i can't see how the news channel can continue properly until Friday - they really should have just stopped in then.
Is Leyla Deybelge on today - it should only really be her or Andrew to close the channel as they have been there from the very beginning.

Is it just me that thinks that sounds like ... how can I put it ... a big fat lie?
I'm assuming you mean you think ITV are lying by saying they'll re-invest, rather than meaning I'm lying by saying they'll - oh never mind.
I agree- they've made clear vague plans to put news on ITV2 and ITV3, which I think were described as "plans". To me they sound a bit like aspirational pipe-dreams....
....the whole point of this operation was to cut the utterly pointless and loss-making news operation to make space for more cheap, tacky, commercially viable pap.
Perhaps they'll put their journalist onto "celebrity newswatch" for ITV2- that counts as news output doesn't it?
I think all mention of "news reinvestment" will be forgotten within weeks.
I think they'd class a 2 minute documentary on window cleaning - news

Nope. The majority of it will go back into mainstream ITV1 bulletins according to the press release.

The ITN website has a new look today. And the NC section has been updated to include Scott Chisholm:
www.itn.co.uk/itv_news_channel/presenters/ (but not Evening News Extra).

I think most of us said when the announcement was made - or even predicted - that it didn't make sense to keep it running past Christmas.
It's a shame - and I'll miss it for one.
On Weekdays I don't think it'll be missed too much, but at the weekends when News 24 has filler programmes every half hour, and even at Christmas when the ITV NC was the only news channel to continue with rolling coverage, it will be missed.
Someone posted the ITV News rota for over Christmas - how many "News Channel" presenters were due to host ITV1 bulletins?

I'll miss it, okay it was a poor man's News Channel, but it made the best of the resources available at ITN and from the ITV Regions, one of the things that made the channel unique.
It's a shame they're dropping such high quality and informative programmes such as Live With Alastair Stewart and even the new Scott Chisholm Show.
I wasn't expecting them to close it this side of Christmas, but it makes sense I suppose, I wonder how the Channel will bow out? I will be watching over the next couple of days for sure, as it's News 24 and Sky News from Friday night!

Where has it been mentioned that it closes at 6? It's likely, but I've not seen it confirmed anywhere

I never seen one report from UTV on the channel?
Perphaps if they dropped the trashy tabloid journalism style they had, the channel may of worked.
