Was anyone watching the ITV NC just now at approx. 16:28 when a 5 minute showreel of the ITV NC was shown. Has this been shown before?

This won't be the end of the 24 hour service - to be honest, when was it a 24 hour news service anyway? The juicy, worthwhile segments from the NC will (I imagine) be transferred to the other ITV channels, so perhaps Scott and Alastair will keep their hours, and possibly Extra?
Put simply, we'll still have the ITVNC, just mixed in with a bit of (repeated) entertainment as well!

In regards to Scott Chisholm it does seem VERY bizarre to introduce a brand new show, trailer and all with this news. THe thing to consider is that neither Andrew nor Lucy were leaving - and the weekends were being filled by Jon Nicolson. Surely they would have just carried on as they were...?
Scotts new show isn't about breaking news - and would cope well as a stand alone programme. Maybe this is why the show was introduced...?

It's because it isn't just one man running ITV.
The ITV News bosses were still running the channel as they always would, planning the new programme, getting a new presenter etc. It's the people way above them that have made the decision
Its a shame as we never saw the channel reach its full potential, it was slowly (very slowly) developing with new ideas every now and then and now its all been stopped in its tracks.
The items announced that will soften the blow are a load of rubbish as well. News programmes won't last very long on ITV2 or ITV3. We all know the trouble the BBC have been having with BBC3 & 4 News and they don't have commercial pressures.
The 'Breaking news team' means nothing as as one of the pundits says on Media Guardian, whilst BBC News 24 and Sky News are rolling with it, ITV will be having to ask the ITV1 bosses to drop regular programming, something they won't do unless the story is very big or happens outside of peak time.

I don't think so. Who do you expect will make this News-Channel-news-that's-not-on-the-News-Channel given that 70 people are to lose their jobs?

It was a comment stating that I believe we'll still have the programming that matters from ITV News - Alastair Stewart for example, but I didn't literally mean we'd still have the NC.
