Does "bland effort" refer to the set or the presenter?
I think James meant the set.
I personally preferred the 1999-2004 look - the current set is rather bland, I agree. The music was also better before the re-launch: much more powerful and 'newsy'. It's similar with the BBC at the moment, too. The orchestral music used during the Virtual Era was, in my opinion, much better suited than the current mix. It just doesn't sound 'newsy' enough.
