ITV News Channel

Hey again, Just wondering if there was any word/ conformation on The ITV News Channels return to Freeview.

The channel has for several months had a message telling viewers, with the exception of the "London" region that the channel was undergoing engineering work on freeview. The message also said the return would be in "early 2005". Would anyone be able to elaborate more on this?

The ITV News Channel will return to Freeview when new compression equipment is installed in the regional centre feeding the transmitter, which will allow ITV to broadcast more channels with less resolution.

I don't know what the timescale for this work is.

The Wrekin Transmitter were I live has just undergone "Improvements" so hopefully sometime soon. Anyway many thanks again.

During a brief moment of insanity I e-mailed the ITV Duty Office asking them to be more specific about "early 2005" for the return of the News Channel to Freeview.

They replied that the channel would return in "Spring 2005".

I expected nothing less really. Good old ITV Duty Office.

I have to admit, I tried the same thing, with essentially the same reply. How wonderfully helpful they are. Many Thanks though,

which duty office? itn or london or granada regions or birmingham - or is there only one these days?

I THINK there's just the one, in Birmingham, now.
