Here's the old thread. APPARENTLY - take with a pinch of salt - ITV are moving both news bulletins back half an hour in the schedule from 2006.

It would make sense, but who knows if its true.

IF it was true I think it is stupid to move the ITV Evening News from 6.30pm, especially when it is doing so well in the ratings, I think putting it head to head with Channel 4 News at 7 would be stupid, I'm sure people would then be more inclined to swtich over to Channel 4 for the new, where it is certainly of a higher calibre than ITV News. I'm not sure that 10, 10.30 or 11pm are good times for ITV News. I would like to see it back at 10, but I know that that wont happen. I think it would be best to leave it where it is now.

However, these sort of rumours, more often than not, turn out to be untrue, so I wouldn't look too much into them. (Even though I just seem to have done !)

Remember though that Channel 4 News is 55 minutes long, and therefore viewers may likely opt for a "quicker digest" of the days news in 30 minutes over on ITV1.

But only if they're thick, in which case they'd not be watching C4 News anyway.

I watch ITV News daily and I am most certainly not thick! Besides, I think C4 News often drags on...

I'm totally confused? Where in that post you quote does it say anything about moving the news to 7pm?

and what possessed you to resurrect an old thread, and then discuss it anyway!?

Er no..., moving back as in half an hour later, therefore to 19:00 and 23:00. What you are referring to would be if ITV were to move the bulletins forward . Don't schools teach anything these days?!!!

no cos if they were moving back, thats back as in backwards, not foward. The thread says back - as in when the clocks go back ONE Hour, the ITV Evening News to be moved BACK 30 Mins to 6PM

Im referring to the thread started on Digital Spy, where this rumour started of both evening bullitens being moved BACK 30mins

I can't ever see ITV sticking the News on at 7.00pm, the 7.00pm slot is very valuable to ITV and it would see the audience half at that time, plus it's been home to Emmerdale since the late 1980's, ITV aren't that stupid.

But certainately 11.00pm is a possibilty, nothing has been confirmed or mentioned recently by ITV, but rumours have circulated, plus you can understand why as the News At 10:30 though it has been noted for high quality in terms of Editorial, fails to deliver the ratings, ITV would rather stick an hour long programme on at 10.00pm, rather than comissioning 90 minute Dramas (which seem to be the norm) and so many 10.00pm shows that don't often suceed.

Is there any basis for this thread other than the months-old Broadcast article cited in the other thread, or some BS from DS?
