That is big. Tyne Tees/Border have two studios, from back when their North/South programmes still existed and they moved out of Billingham. Because of cuts they only use the one studio which is like a shoebox for their programme. One if prerecorded earlier. The other is for Around the House, I believe. The blue screen is just inches away from the set and the cameras are literally just in the doorway.
Around The House, like all ITV regional political programmes are recorded at Westminster. In Milbank Studios I believe?

According to the 1977 IBA Yearbook, the studio at St Helier was 1000 sq feet (I assume that's the one closing today ?), and a 900 sq foot studio in St Peter Port, (with microwave link for live inserts)

I don't know whether there's been any facility on Guernsey is recent years, but they were facilities some BBC English regions back in the 70s would have given a limb for !

The one that closed this weekend was opened in 1988.

They presented Channel Report from Guernsey for a week in 2002 while there was work going on at Jersey. They have (or had) a small multi-camera set up

This film is great for detailing what facilities Channel had at La Pouquelaye. There is mention of two studios, A for productions and B for news. I suspect once programmes other than news became history, news may have moved into A, but that's just a guess.

It does look all lovely, new and on brand.

I may be reading to much into this, but when speaking to Aux Manager 'Kevin' in that clip he said; "We're lucky, we're benefitting from a multi million pound investment by ITV across regional news. It's the same kit everywhere. It's HD, and our guys have spent the last few weeks getting trained up on it and we're ready to go".

If they are also upgrading the technology kit in the regions is this explaining why the studio refits are taking longer than a simple set change?

Is it just me who thinks this...

...looks better than this...

I know I'm bringing the same subject up but it's those black frames... it restricts double framing quite a bit.

You're right, it really does.

I still can't get my head round why the regions have opted for the black screens. It's very, very strange and ruins a generally nice studio.

The view is from across the marina - I was there last week. Their building is the middle one - formerly a restaurant. I agree the black frames ruin the overall look.

Both sets are kinda "eeek" But the new set would be sooo much better without the stinking black bars. Not sure if they are sitting back or if the desk is coffee table height. Not really a fan of this look or the sofa style presentation. IMO is looks news magazine-y rather than a straight news broadcasts. But that my opinion.

Most regional news programmes are considered to be news magazines, so that sounds spot on.
