Bernard got it spot-on. This is everything I remember about Harry.

I remember once Mary Marquis or Malcolm Wilson had taken ill and lost their voice just a while before Reporting Scotland was due on air. Harry was then wheeled-in at the last minute to present the programme that evening.

Although he went on to present millions of minutes of reporting and live pieces subsequently, he wasn’t very comfortable (back at that time) in a studio setting as a last minute anchor reading the autocue. And it showed!

By his own admission, he’d rather be out getting the story than sitting at a desk for 30minutes reading it!

True enough, when there was another last-minute issue at Reporting Scotland a few weeks later, it was Alan Douglas who was brought on in that occasion to fill the gap.

I’m sure Harry was delighted that Alan was also in the area on that particular day.

Great guy! And his ability to get the Queen to stop in her stride and speak about sport was ‘very Harry’.

Very sad news about Harry Smith. He’s been on form on Twitter these past few months. Only a few weeks ago he gave us this withering takedown of the PM.

There’s been a slight refresh to the ITV News website, more categories and more depth than the previous website. The “live stream” idea established a few years ago has now well and truly gone

That's a shame because the live stream was its USP really.

Have to agree - the new app feels lighter on content. Local news though now seems to be more local - I get "Wrexham News" rather than "Wales News".
Stay Local. Stay Safe. Stay Alive.

I only played with it briefly but it struck me as odd I couldn’t choose a topic, ie politics, or choose to see all of Robert Peston’s blogs.

Interestingly the dark blue seems to have been dropped in favour of very dark grey/black, maybe a sign of things to come for ITV News’ on air branding?
