[quote:0788930098="RDJ" pid="1142576"]A 'TVS Production' credit on some footage during the report on Baroness Trumpington's death on tonight's News at Ten.

Thought that would excite some Forumers.[/quote:0788930098]
Required for Fair Dealing purposes because the paperwork to do it any other way isn't available, I assume.
Write that down in your copybook now.

ITV News doing themselves no favours tonight by leading with a story about a kid being bullied on the day the government admitted pursuing Brexit was harming our economic future whichever way we do it.

to Be honest they must be as bored with it as we all are, the story about the lad just shows how appalling the lad was treated and the exclusive interview with him revealed it’s been going on for ages, I think the school has some real questions to answer here.

Why should anyone live in fear like that I’m glad they felt it important enough to flag first and certainly has provoked some deep meaningful thoughts and conversations around the UK tonight,I geuess the question is this what we want - I for one don’t!

Why?
They still covered the Brexit news second. Today’s news is really no different than all the other doom predictions we get every day.

The story about the refugee being bullied in the video was covered on BBC Newsnight in where the boy's father was speaking to them exclusively about the attack on his son. Although it was aired sometime after their first piece about Brexit on Wednesday night. All I can say; Poor kid. I haven't watched the exclusive interview online yet. Well done to ITV News for covering that story first ahead of Brexit. It was a horrific story to hear at first but the aftermath the incident should become brighter for the young boy & for his family.

I've always seen ITV as the "human interest" channel when it comes to this sort of stuff.

Sometimes as an editor you have to ask yourself, "What's really the bigger deal here?" The answer is, whether Remainer or Brexiteer, I think we can all agree that so many people have now come out and said it's going to be a complete train-wreck, that Yet Another One loses its impact. The Brexit announcement came through as an alert on my phone. I swiped it off because I'm so used to them now. A refugee child being bullied is therefore the bigger deal of the two stories and justifiably went to the front of the night's agenda.

I would actually argue the piece on the bullied refugee asked far more questions of the viewer than yet another person saying Brexit has put us on a collision course for disaster. It could also be argued that the Brexit piece would have made many Brexiteers just go "Oh FFS not another one," switch over and miss the refugee story.

So I believe ITV played it right.

Apologies if this has already been posted somewhere, but I have just discovered that Andrew Burt died very recently: https://www.thestage.co.uk/features/obituaries/2018/obituary-andrew-burt-actor-voice-artist-starred-emmerdale-im-alan-partridge/

Andrew was the voice-over artist for the "Voice of God" announcements on ITN/ITV News from 1992 to 2004.

On the BBC Scotland thread I read the article about the new news programme

I did notice an interesting quote from Martin Geissler (apologies if I mis spelt his surname) and I wonder who he might be referring to if it all about ITV News

Quote:
Mr Geissler said he had been in news rooms where presenters had fallen out over who read the first line of a bulletin and was determined to have a much better relationship than that.
