I worried that ITV had horribly renamed the Evening News when I looked at the ITV Hub homepage. Thankfully it seems to just be online that it's called 'ITV News Weekday Teatime'. Does anyone know why it might be titled differently on the website - or more importantly, who might be responsible for such a terrible name?
I remember on many occasions, even up to 2016, UTV used to refer to their early evening news, as the "teatime" news, especially at weekends.
Look North (Yorkshire) still make the odd reference to the 6.30 programme at teatime. Peter Levy for years used to say back at teatime but in more recent years dropped that.

Is it something to do with how the bulletin times and duration are a bit all over the place at the moment, so they're calling it teatime online rather than the Evening News because it's not always the proper Evening News?

I wasn't aware that the drinking of tea was restricted to a particular part of the day.
It's a phrase that certainly has no rightful place in a news bulletin name.

What about “breakfast” and “lunchtime”? Most northern families still refer to the main evening meal as “teatime”. Maybe it should be the ITV Suppertime News so the southerners can understand?
In all seriousness, I’ve never heard anyone at ITN call it the weekday teatime news. No idea why it would be called that on the ITV Hub. Must have been a northerner who set it up.
Tom is still not back to News at Ten after his sick leave and hasn't been on for over two months now.
To be honest, I was never his greatest fan but his absence has made me realise how I've actually missed his delivery on the show and that I'm not keen on Rageh or Julie fronting it.
However with the likelihood of another general election creeping further and further, it's quite possible that Tom wouldn't front it, especially given the nature of the reason of his current absence.
Was just thinking he is missed tonight, though Peston showing his value as political editor. Rageh really has improved though but Alastair probably most suited to the revamped News at Ten as he's always added his opinion to the bulletins he presents but in a way which is far more subtle and less jarring than Bradby came across initially.
