That looks like the start of the regional weather sting to me.

Indeed - there are no news headlines at 3pm anymore but a regional weather summary remains at just before 4pm.

I stand corrected! Wink

I presume that this was just a West/Westcountry failure then, as there was no mention by the CA before the start of Frost at 4pm.

My only problem with the new look is the start when one of the presenters is stood right next to the camera. They need to ditch that, or at least have them standing near the desk/a screen.

Its also nice to see Alastair and Katie presenting together again.

...why are they leading with John Terry of all things? Those "cartoons" are pretty cringeworthy to look at too.

Agreed. Far too distant from the desk, like they're telling us a secret the other newscaster isn't allowed to hear!

If she is doing it with Alastair, she will lead. They alternate whomever is presenting.

And your wish has been granted. Laughing

She led at 6:30 - Alastair will lead at ten.

Nope, Alastair led the 6.30 and 10 last night with Katie presenting - it's Katie tonight.

Indeed - there are no news headlines at 3pm anymore but a regional weather summary remains at just before 4pm.

The summary was axed a few years ago in favour of an hour-long lunchtime bulletin (and we all know how well that turned out...!) They managed to get away with not bringing the 3pm headlines back after cutting the news back down to 30 minutes, but the regional weather update remained for some bizarre reason.

Just as they have in the morning and at the weekends. Indeed for as long as I can remember there has been a late regional weather forecast at the weekend but no bulletin - I'm guessing perhaps one was there previously and that is why the weather remains, but I'm guessing if that's the case it was axed late-80's/early-90's at the latest.

ITV are quite clever with it; a 1-2 minute long regional forecast each day fills up somewhere in the region of 6-12 hours per year towards their regional quota. Whilst it isn't much, its still half an extra hour to an hour a month where they can get better ratings etc.

And im greatful that late local weekend forecast really gives me so much more than the national one and tells me what to wear for the new working week Wink

And I guess it increases the value of the sponsorship too?
