You can roll your eyes all you want, but if they launched it and it wasn't 100% ready you would be the first to moan and complain.

A personal attack cheers for that Rolling Eyes , its not a point of being ready or not im rolling my eyes because of the time it has taken to launch. They promised us a site for August yet its now January 2010. How much longer could they possibly need!!

I've just come across an interview with editor Deborah Turness from 2007, in which she discusses the change of focus on ITV News programmes over the latter half of the last decade. Here it is (beware - it's a Word document).

Just interested in people's reaction to what she has to say. Do you agree with her views?

A funny moment just then as a passer by on his mobile phone walked in front of Richard Pallot reporting live outside St. Pancras station tripping on his microphone wire whipping it off him and sending it to the ground.
Then we could barely hear him apart from the person saying sorry and a few laughs from people watching from the side presumably.
I can imagine Richard was fuming with the person afterwards!

I was half watching it and half typing on here , so heard the sound go, but didn't know what had actaully happened ( I though someone on here would have posted though! )

Some people are stupid , why would you walk straight in front of a camera!! Laughing

Quick random thought.

Would it really cost too much to get BDA to re-edit the title sequence so it becomes smoother? I doubt this sequence worth as much as the London flyover. I still find the animation between the 'hero panels' very jerky.

And the studio backdrop still lacks the depth that the superb NaT one had. It's just very flat...

It's a very easy thing to do. The camera and reporter have to be a fair distance apart, so it's not a given that someone walking along would notice what was going on and walk straight through. Especially if you're in a rush to get a train like you would be late night near a station!

News crews use as few cables as possible for very obvious reasons. It's fairly common to have a wireless link back to a truck or plug if it's far enough away but I don't think it is for mics in that sort of set up.

Quite ironic that I was on about editing or adjusting title sequences last night - the summary titles have been tweaked. There is no ITV News logo at the start, it appears at the end of the sequence and the "door" effect has been dumped (sorry I don't have caps).

There is no long shot of the studio at the end of the summary either - the title sequence is played again, then the ITN endcap.

My thinking is that they werent in the main studio - maybe using studio 2?

Yeah, that's what I'm assuming. Were the titles at the end what they usually use too, or do they usually just have a wide studio shot?
