Interesting comments from everybody.
I have to admit, I’m not entirely sure I’m sold on the opening titles. They still look too showbiz to me, but I quite like the large astons. I think the music is fine too, and especially like the references to the classic theme towards the end of the piece.
Re the set, I think it looks great in the wide-shots (such as Alastair interviewing Lawrence at 1.30), but am less convinced about the close up shots when only one presenter is in-vision. It just seems to lack that big bulletin look which the skyline set captured so perfectly.
And I agree, News at Ten should have been left alone. Bringing it into line with the rest of ITV News means it loses that stand-alone identity it’s always had, and becomes just another generic news bulletin that happens to be broadcast at 10pm.
Here's some more screen-shots from last week's rehersals:

Perhaps one of the most positive things to come out of all of this though, is the network’s promotion of ITV News through outdoor advertising, on-air promos and ECP push-backs. Its been a while since we’ve seen this level of commitment from ITV1.
Lets see how things pan out across the rest of today though …

Just looking at the screencaps, the set looks quite nice in the brighter mid-shots and close-ups, but some of the wide shots look a little like they're presenting the news from an underground car park.
Will make up my mind when I see it tonight!

As we are in the UK shouldn't it be Newsreader? I've only heard newscaster being used in America.
ITN have referred to them as newscasters for decades and decades. Look up some early recordings on TV Ark
I've never known that, I always thought Newscaster was an American term.
The American term is "anchor".

They've reintroduced the old practice of including the newscaster in the end credits

As part of ITV News' "brand realignment" we've created a social media strategy that includes a facebook page and numerous twitter accounts. Become a fan of itv news to get the latest information, news updates and pictures as well as being able to see behind the scenes footage and presenter profiles.

ITV News has it's own twitter account and our senior correspondents and editors including Economics Editor Daisy McAndrew, Crime Correspondent Keir Simmons and International Editor Bill Neely are now twittering away so become a follower to get the news as it happens as well as behind the camera gossip!

Well, what can I say! I am astonished.
10 out of 10. Well done.
(Love the "Newscaster" bit at the end.)

I wonder what they made that bassline with thats in the music. I doubt they would have used Cubase, Nexus and the likes.
DA
I'm not completely sold on the music. And overall it's nowhere near as good as the News at Ten look and it's a shame we lost it so soon.
The positives - it's a million times better than the old 'ITV News' look. The titles are great. The studio looks good. Everything's very slick. Hopefully I can warm to the music.
