Maybe ITN will have a camera in the belfry of the clock tower (Big Ben) like I believe they did in 2000.

I'm not to good on my clock knowledge , but I'm guessing that's the inside of the clock tower?

I suppose it's an alternative - if ( apparently) they don't have the rights to show the full fireworks then it's better than just a standard image of ben ben and then back to the studio!

I'd hate to be the person in there - you'd be sure to get a headache !! Laughing

I assume Mary will be live with the clock tower itself, bongs and fireworks in the background, with Alastair in the studio?

I suppose so - strange there was no mention of Mary also being on - everythink's been billed as just Alastair!

Well the display is 8 minutes and I assume ITV will extend a little bit, when do timings run to time when ITV News is concerned Wink

oh that makes sense then - I thought it was 10 minutes plus a little bit of talk at the end. so oviously would fit . Being 8 minutes plus a bit of chat cuts it down a bit and as you say things don't alaways fo to time.

Hmm, perhaps it would've been better having the main news earlier on (at ten or something) and leaving the celebrations/review of the year to this programme.

that's exactly what I thought earlier on - having the news , review & celebrations all in one show was a bit too much!!

didn't see it all as like I said earlier wasn't sure if they would show all the fireworks - but by the sound of it they didn't!! Btw did the belfry get shown . I wonder if it'll be put on the ITV Player - shouldn't think so - Mabye a video will be posted on Youtube??

Edit : already has

what i don't get is if they can show 3/4 minutes - then why not all ( except if it's BBC pictures - even though surely they could of shared them!) it not as though it would harm the BBC viewing figures - most will tune in to BBC1 by default!

No, the belfry wasn't shown, shame really as apparently cameras aren't normally allowed up there . I watched BBC1 and Sky+ed ITV as I wanted to see both their efforts, it seems ITV1 were in a bit of a rush to get the programme off air as they cut hastily from the ITN Happy New Year endcap to the weather sponsor sting.

Meanwhile, over on BBC One, the programme ended with no year on the endcap, which was odd!
