If only local late bulletins were always that long...

I don't know how London coped, but Calendar in Yorkshire certainly appeared to struggle to fill the larger than normal regional news slot today...

Both channels regionally have been very heavy with non-time specific human interest stories this week that were probably prepared before Christmas and could air at any time, and bulletins being near identical from 6.30am to 11.00pm but I suppose they have to be to some degree as nothing's happening.

ITV Anglia have put the words 'Anglia Tonight/News' (Whenever applicable) on the back of the laptops. It's not actually there, and the animation on it mimics the screens with 'Anglia News/Tonight; on it.

What morons.

I'm sure they have their (odd) reasons for doing that... but is there really any need to insult them? I'm sure it doesn't detract from the news itself too heavily.

It is a silly idea, to be brutally honest. If it was static then maybe it wouldn't be too bad, but it animates, which I presume makes it look bad.

So you've not actually seen it then?

No, I haven't. But I can imagine it from what has been said on here. It WILL look cheap and tacky.

here's a cap - sorry for the bad quality - it's quite faint anyway , but you can just about see it.

With the long drawn out loacl news...I think ITV have a strict quota to fill each week for local news....Im guessing around 3 hours or so....? And with None on Christmas Day and Boxing Day I suppose they are trying to pad out......

IT IS cheap and tacky, as seen from the cap above. It animates in time with the screens and when in full light, looks ugly and horrible

EDIT: It is also made 3-D so it looks as if the logo is protruding out of the laptop.

I saw Anglia Tonight this evening and didn't see the horrible 'smear' that was on the laptop back yesterday. But then again, as it zoomed into the Xmas tree, they may not have put it on, seeing as half of the laptop was displayed for about a second.

Interesting to see ITV seeing the new year in with ITV News and their look back at the biggest stories of 2009, no doubt packed with doom and gloom - I mean, it's hardly been a joyous year.

Should be an interesting watch with Al.

like i said on new years countdown thread - the ITV News countdown is on on till 12:05 compared to the BBC's 12:15 does that mean they won't show the fireworks ( or cut them off halfway through)? As much as I like Alastair , I won't be watching if it doen't have all the fireworks.

Also Al just said Mary will be with him too!

Maybe ITN will have a camera in the belfry of the clock tower (Big Ben) like I believe they did in 2000.
