Mark gets of again if those schedules are right Rolling Eyes

When did you start drawing up ITN's staff contracts?

When do you start asking silly questions, all im saying is that for one of the highest payed newsreaders at ITN he doesn't present as much as he should. He did a weekend presnting and every other presenter like Julie, Katie, Mary for example presented the evening and late bulletins while Mark just presented one bulletin. Leading up to christmas it seems that he is not presenting not even in new year and if ITV are trying to put there most senior presenters on how come Mark is not up in that Christmas line up. Yes he could be taking time off but now fair if others are all presenting then again this is just my opinion and im sure people on here will disagree with me.

Does it really matter who presents it? Lets face it, not many people are going to be that bothered let alone over Christmas

It wasn't that long ago that Mark regularly presented both the 6.30 and 10.00 bulletins so how people can say he isnt on the news enough I don't know!

So many people on this forum get their knickers in a twist about how many hours certain presenters are working. Does it really matter? Do you know the precise details of the said presenters' contracts? I really don't think some of you understand how employment works. Staff presenters will be contracted to work a certain number of hours/days per year. Why should they work extra days if it's not in their contract? As the head newscaster at ITV, I think it's perfectly reasonable for Mark Austin not to work over Christmas. You wouldn't find Brian Williams doing it on NBC. Does Jon Snow present C4 News over Christmas? There's barely been a week this year when Austin hasn't been involved in ITV News in some capacity. I really do wish people would just get a grip and move on from this drivel. It's ruining a perfectly good forum.

Completely agree with you Robert.

Although I was initially sceptical about the BBC Presenters thread, I think a joint one for ITV, Channel 4 and Sky might not be a bad idea - seems to work much better nowadays for BBC discussions!

I guess this will be a pretty normal News at Ten, just with one presenter - it has a normal length timeslot. Also the 30th (Wed) bulletin will similarly be full length, albeit at 10.30

I have noticed that since this revamp News at Ten no longer starts at 10 - usually its about 10.02 = so News at When is back! Rolling Eyes

To be fair that's mainly due to following I'm a Celeb as live programmes tend to overrun. I'm sure if you look back at the last couple of years during those weeks the bulletin would have rarely started at 10pm exactly too.

Back to Christmas and do the Lunchtime bulletins for the period tend to be full half-hour editions. Also between Christmas and New Year are their three regional news bulletins a day, or just the one like at the weekend?

When the Lunchtime Bulletins are schduled to be half hour editions there is a local news update. What suprises me though iis that the Lunchtime bulletin could be the longest one of the day on some occasions

I'm surprised no one seemed to spot that the first few nights of the revamped News at Ten started at 22:00:00 on the dot!

The start time of the late bulletin has varied slightly ever since it returned in 2008. More often than not it starts at 22:00, but on some occasions it doesn't start until 22:01 or 22:02. As Brekkie pointed out, it's usually when it follows a big, live event. They usually want to insert an ad break after programmes like IAMGMOOH and Britain's Got Talent because they're bound to have big audiences. You can hardly blame them as they are a commercial broadcaster. It's not as if the BBC News was constantly late - for that, there's no real excuse short of a breakdown or the odd programme overrunning.
