Katie Derham finally gets Christmas off then - hasn't she presented on Christmas Day quite often in the last few years?

I imagine the New Year listings will change considering Alistair is hosting a midnight bulletin, can't see him doing both the Lunchtime bulletins on New Years Eve and New Years Day.

Has James Mates hosted the main bulletins at all since the revamp, considering Alistair now seems to be the regular News at Ten fill in?

He's been on a climate change project for a few weeks.

I don't think so. I watched the Christmas Day bulletins on ITV when Katie presented them last year but I think that represented a change in policy, with relief presenters usually covering them in years gone by.

Does anyone know what sort of viewing figures the bulletins get over the Christmas period?

The last few years have seen some major breaking news stories over christmas, so I do not know whether any figure will be accurate.

If my memory serves me well then in 2007 it was Geraint Vincent on Christmas Day and 2006 and 2005 was Lucy Owen now on Wales Today.

No James hasn't. Its been the main five doing all the 6.30 AND 10.00 bulletins since the revamp AFAIK. But James is listed to do a few 10.00 bulletins the week after next.

Katie only presented on Christmas Day last year.

I think the Christmas bulletins have been;

2004 Nina Hossain
2005 Lucy Owen
2006 Lucy Owen or Geraint Vincent???
2007 Geraint Vincent
2008 Katie Derham

When do you start asking silly questions, all im saying is that for one of the highest payed newsreaders at ITN he doesn't present as much as he should. He did a weekend presnting and every other presenter like Julie, Katie, Mary for example presented the evening and late bulletins while Mark just presented one bulletin. Leading up to christmas it seems that he is not presenting not even in new year and if ITV are trying to put there most senior presenters on how come Mark is not up in that Christmas line up. Yes he could be taking time off but now fair if others are all presenting then again this is just my opinion and im sure people on here will disagree with me.

My point is that ITV is not a public service. If ITV, or rather ITN, decide that they will draw up a contract with Mark Austin stating he will work certain days or certain times for a certain amount of money they are perfectly capable of doing so, and I don't think it's fair for ITN or Mark Austin to be criticised or commented on by people with no experience in the industry about matters that fail to concern them.
