The driest anchors always seem to be the top anchors. Julie and Mark very boring. Alistair and Mary much better. Katie just slobs over the desk these days.
I think the quotes about katie and julie are true, I think it is a bit harsh on mark. Mark and mary on the evening news are much better, I'm not saying I hate alastair, he's just not evening material, better on LN or NAT.
Also, still waiting to see when james, lucy and chris rogers are scheduled.
Just because Mark is the main presenter on ITV News I dont see why he cant present the Sunday evening news once in a while - it is afterall one of the highest rated if not THE highest rated programme of the week. The fact he isnt presenting the 11pm bulletin highlights the fact he is the Anchor of ITV news as im sure Mary/Katie and others have presented that when they did the Sunday evening bulletin??
Well they're already ditching it on Friday for the next two weeks. Yes, ideally it would remain Monday to Friday, but if it was installed permanently on Sunday I wouldn't object so much to the Friday edition being pushed later - and I suspect from a commercial point of view the 9-11pm slot on Friday may be more valuable to ITV than it is on Sunday - not so much for playing out new content, but more for sneaking in cheap repeats and films.
Would ITV want to loose the ability to schedule 90/120 minute post-watershed drama? That sort of thing isn't suitable for Saturdays, and is it for Fridays? Thinking back to the summer when there were programmes like Single Handed (120 mins) and Whatever It Takes (90 mins)
Might be better to keep the late Sunday bulletin as simple ITV News and not face complaints of 'News at When' if it's not at 10pm

I dislike Alistair's pantomime and smarmy style. The others aren't too bad. ITN lost their best anchor when Nicholas Owen left for the BBC though. He was "different" AND relatively easy to watch, unlike Alistair who is very cringeworthy and pompous at times.

In no way does Katie "slob over the desk". That statement is utter rubbish and really quite offensive!
It makes me wonder whether you even watch the lunchtime news.
She is an excellent, very professional newsreader who does a great job, second to none in my opinion, and who has the advantage of also being an exceedingly nice person.
Just because you happen to rate Mary so highly doesn't mean that you are doing anyone, least of all her, any favours by casting baseless aspersions on other presenters.

I agree, personally ive never really been a fan of Allistair - I prefer Mark. And out of the female presenters I prefer Mary, Katie and Nina over Julie.

Does anyone know why the London news graphics have been slightly more compact and dull than other regions
a bulletin/bullet-in is basically an output of a live programme, for example, itv news at ten, is the late news bulletin for itv, its like an episode, but live.
A head anchor is someone who is the most commonly known anchor, ie mark austin, the deputy for itv is ment to be mary, however it looks more like julie. Its really just a name tag, but it should be worth something.
FYI, rajanchavda, Jugalug was being sarcastic. And whilst I think about it, Mark and Mary are not the anchor and deputy anchors for ITV. IIRC, Julie Etchingham was poached from Sky News to partner and succeed Trevor McDonald. I'm sure that when ITV announced the shakeup of its presentation roster, it was made clear Julie and Alastair would rank above Mark as anchors, not least of all because they will be the ones anchoring the general election broadcast next year.

I seem to recall that Mark Austin has his own office at Grays Inn Road, which was always Trevor's. So, I'd have to disagree with you there. It's clear that Mark is the head newscaster.
