In the last few years this sort of story has always been one of ITV's strengths, and these big floods are pretty much an annual occurrence. Was Geraint due to host though - I'm guessing Alastair and Julie were probably down for both bulletins, so surprising neither of them were sent up to Cumbria.
And quite like the short titles for the summary.
failure of the 'faces of itv news'.
Huh? You can't seriously expect no other presenter except Mark, Mary, Julie, Katie and Alastair to never present another ITV News programme again?! It's not as if they had dragged in some lesser known reporter to do it - Geraint is sufficiently well known to anyone who regularly watches ITV News.
But he's not up to the standard of usual ITV News presenters. Not a good report either IMO.
Did anyone else see The Westcountry Today this afternoon? It was being presented from their (very empty looking) newsroom... Could they be relighting their studio this weekend in preparation for the yellow peril on Monday??!

Perhaps there is another reason for this.
I didn't see the bulletin, but it seems quite drastic to decamp to the newsroom for the work that's necessary for the 'yellow peril' changes. After all, Central seemed to have managed the changes overnight for their Thursday programmes.
The former Plymouth site included a 'bulletin studio' (basically a small office, but with its own gallery, pic below) for such eventualities and for the GMTV opt-outs. I'm surprised that there isn't something similar in Bristol, as the complex is somewhat larger. Even if they don't have such a facility, then surely a CSO screen in the studio (the one used for the weather, perhaps) could maintain the illusion of the old lighting effects for the weekend.

Central have 2 identical sets though, both next door to each other.
Central got their lighting setup changed last Weekend, but did not switch to the yellow until Thursday. They stayed in their normal studio (not Studio East - the one next door) while the work was carried out before Sunday Evening's bulletin.
The East Studio must have been taken down, because East's plasmas are now being used in Studio West, so is the chairs, but they are now in dark grey.

Actually, they have relit Studio E and Studio W is there as a backup.

Well surely they are in Studio West now anyway, they haven't been in East for a few months now.
Mark will be putting his part in the Sunday schedules tonight!!
And there was me saying a few weeks ago that you wouldn't see Mark at the weekend.
Like I said then , it makes sense though - IIRC Last night's ITV News had 5.4m viewers, proberly just as much if not more tonight!!
If there the highest rated bulletins it makes sense to have the main 5 present it,if possible.
Especially makes sense too when the BBC often use random faces from News 24 at the weekend too (though to be fair, it's usually the same few now and as they've been doing it a while, they're not exactly strangers too terrestrial viewers).
Wonder if it might be wise to go for a full News at Ten on a Sunday, perhaps ditching it on a Friday where a 9-11pm slot for movies might be of more value.
