Caught a bit of the 10.30pm bulletin - the logo on the astons is a bit cut and paste really - be better off using an "ITV NEWS Central". Also no URL - did Central reinstate the itv.com/central URL at the beginning of the month when the itv.com/local site launched?

Yep, needs to be aligned properly with the astons... just looks as though it's floating in air at the moment. The link was there until the site went wrong and it's been dropped since then, even though it's working again.

Central News...They have the 'new look studio' but still have the old music, would it not have been an idea to launch it all at once.. new look and new music? Or are they not taking the new music?

Well I heard that there wasn't going to be any new regional music, but that was a few weeks ago. Michael W suggested he had information to the contrary.

Well, I was told there were certain tracks from News Centre being re done for the regions.

Considering they didn't make the November 2nd deadline to do it all in one go I see no reasons for the regions to rush in a new look before the New Year, especially if it's still not finalised.

That said though considering the ITV News revamp had been planned you would have thought like 2004 and 2006 they'd have factored in the regions too.

Its nowhere near as bad as some of you are making out, I actually prefer the set yellow over the teal we have now. The titles look awful though. It would have been much better if they kept the same titles and used the grey/black/yellow background instead of the teal and yellow one. Not sure if it has been posted, the video of them is here

I thought the ITV News at Ten was very strong indeed last night. I had watched the BBC News earlier and found ITV to be much more insightful. They had several reports covering the event, including the human angle, the death of the police officer, some of the science as well as a final report from Rohit Kachroo looking at the whole area from a helicopter. That was particularly useful as I had been wondering about the extent of the affected area. People often criticise ITV News - yes the may be a bit too celebrity obsessed and human interest focused, but they always come out on top in these big news stories.

In the last few years this sort of story has always been one of ITV's strengths, and these big floods are pretty much an annual occurrence. Was Geraint due to host though - I'm guessing Alastair and Julie were probably down for both bulletins, so surprising neither of them were sent up to Cumbria.

And quite like the short titles for the summary.

Huh? You can't seriously expect no other presenter except Mark, Mary, Julie, Katie and Alastair to never present another ITV News programme again?! It's not as if they had dragged in some lesser known reporter to do it - Geraint is sufficiently well known to anyone who regularly watches ITV News.
