Technically as the weather isn't in the programme itself surely it should be "ITV News; Weather". Not that it matters anyway - yes, a shame the Evening News brand is dropped but at the end of the day it isn't a big deal. I don't remember people over reacting in such a way when the BBC renamed their bulletins "BBC News at Six" etc. - at the end of the day whatever they're called it doesn't affect the content at all.

Talking of the weather though and I think it could do with a bit of "brand realignment" too - at the very least scrapping the straps at the top of the screen and putting an "ITV Weather" logo bottom left, with perhaps the day bottom right.

It's like that on VM

Similarly on the BBC too
"BBC News; Midlands Today; Weather"

It varies week to week. Sometimes it's "ITV News and Weather" others "ITV News; Weather"

I think people are taking the listings a bit too literally here. Like when ITV schedule news at 10.00pm on Christmas Day and it gets billed as 'News at Ten' and there is a debate about whether it will carry News at Ten presentation

Some listings refer to every bulletin on every channel as 'News', it doesn't mean they've renamed their bulletins to this.

The 5.30am bulletin often gets called the 'ITV Early Morning News' as well, but I don't think ITN/ITV News have ever called it this

The Sky EPG always referred to the 5.30 bulletin as the "Early Morning News" but in recent times has dropped the "Early" reference (presumably because it was never present in the programme to begin with). IIRC the continuity announcer also used to introduce it as the "ITV Early Morning News", but again in recent times they've stopped using "Early" (from what little I've seen anyway).

Just catching a glimpse of the summary this afternoon and it was Charlene White from the Morning News presenting, is this the first time we've seen a Morning News presenter post-news channel era appear on any other news programme other than the overnight summaries and of course the 5.30am bulletin?

No, it has happened before - although not very often.

I hadn't managed to watch the News at 1.30 since the first day of the revamp until today. I must say that today's edition was excellent, certainly the best ITV lunchtime bulletin I've seen in a long time. There was decent, solid info and analysis on the Queen's Speech (which was rightly the top story) for nearly ten minutes; there was an interview with John Denham and they threw live to Tom Bradby at Westminster (he's not often on at lunchtime is he?) Simple graphics but very effective.

It was also good to see Paul Davies talking about the appointment of Archie Norman as ITV's new chairman... Alastair threw to Davies live. Davies was live from... the front step of 200 Gray's Inn Road. I see old habits die hard, they've been doing things like this for as long as I can remember. In fact I think I remember an ITV newscaster throwing live to a reporter who was on the roof of ITN!

Having the jib back on the lunchtime bulletin gives it more authority so I'm glad it's back - I'm also glad to see that this programme doesn't use The Sun-esque headline text in the title sequence as the 6.30 and 10.00 programmes do. Have to say I'm now pleased with this revamp of ITV news programmes (although it would be nice to see some form of individuality for NaT) - the only real thing that irks me is the aston design! Come 10.28pm it's always the same. One of the presenters will say "That is the news at ten..."

Isn't that very narrow thinking? It has been that which the editors have deemed newsworthy that day. The suggestion it is definitively all the news you need is typical of the tabloid values of the programme, projecting a feeling a net has been tightly thrown around all that matters. Over on the BBC there is more of a thoughtful uncertainty, and a sense there is naturally more to a story than what they can possibly tell you inside 3 minutes.

Do you not think you're looking into this a bit too deeply? It's just a sentence (that is probably more accurately written as "That is the News at Ten" - I.e. the "News at Ten" being the programme name). The BBC often say "Now the news where you are." Are you honestly expecting them to say "That is the news that we thought would be worthy to go on this programme at ten" and "Now for the news that the regional news team in your area felt was appropriate and relevant enough for 6:30". You've got to be kidding.
