Is it me, or was the itv national forecast missing after the national news?

The end shot just now on with Nina Hussain, looks terrible, bad picture quality and blurred. Why ITV cannot use remote cameras I don't know.

I've always wondered why studio wide shots in news summaries or programmes that don't have the jib are very blurred and poor quality. That slow zooming in or out doesn't help. Does anyone know why this is?

Its because it's a static shot, they they zoom in/out using the gallery, and not the camera itself. BBC and Sky control their cameras remotley from the gallery and Sky can move them across the floor remotley, I don't understand why ITV have not got the facility to do this, or at least they should do a static shot without pixelating the image.

Could be because the wideshot they use is from the jib, and jibs are not remote-able.

The desk is real but the yellow blocks on the front are keyed in. The blocks on the actual desk are CSO green. I presume this is to allow them to change the colours if necessary (such as for an election programme or similar).

Oh lord! Let's hope they'll do something decent when it comes to Election night. Since this realign, I find it hard to watch ITV News. I hate everything about it. The 'state of the art' set is nothing short of abysmal. Please please please use the atrium as before, one of the best uses of it ever seen.

God no - the atrium never worked on the round shot and always looks obviously fake. It was fine as a novelty for the 2005 election, but as a regular background it was the virtual newsroom at it's worst!

Now the new set looks bigger and capable of doing a bit more if it is the main election set (I'd prefer something in the real atrium myself as we saw in 2001), but is the extra floor space to the right and front of the desk actually there, or is it all an illusion?

Sorry, what I meant was come Election Night. They once built a studio in the atrium, and it worked an absolute treat! Best election set they ever did.

They have done it twice - here are some screencaps from TV Ark.

It would be nice to see them build another studio here again - looked great at the time - but there is so much scope for design with a virtual set. I'd love to see them use their new studio to the full extent and full potential in the general election coverage - let's hope that they drop yellow from the set for that one night at least.

Does Julie still have an etcher-sketcher for the News At Ten? Smile

From Monday, the lunchtime, evening, weekend and late bulletins will simply be known as "ITV News and Weather", the morning news retains its name whilst 'News at Ten and Weather' becomes "ITV News at Ten and Weather". Its a bit odd how the name changes didn't happen with the relaunch, and that they will probably be called "ITV News at 1.30" rather than just "ITV News".

Is it really necessary to have Weather including in the programme name? Also, why is the Morning News retaining its name? That is the only programme to escape all the major changes to ITV News except for its look.
