Totally appreciate that.
Not even sure how this discussion has blown up like this.
Back on topic, does anyone know if the new theme is a reworking of the classic theme or a totally new tune?
Perhaps, but it's seemingly the single issue I see in RTPs and on metropol. You can't please all the people all the time.

oh must we? This is actually something I've been wanting for ages, a sensible discussion about where the line is on TVF rather than on Metro.
I'd side with option three - deserves new thread - due to the fact
1. it's a new job rather than just rota tripe
2. it's a famous reporter
3. nevertheless, it doesn't belong in *this* thread

Most of the ident threads have been split from the original by you mods though - which I at least am most greatful for as otherwise I wouldn't have bothered looking. For example I always check this thread but rarely check the BBC or Sky equivalent.
Maybe come Monday for the revamp at least it might be an idea to have separate threads for the Lunchtime, Evening and News at Ten - although barring any major surprises they'll all look the same it'll be easier for latecomers to find info about the relevent bulletins. (Off topic but separate ITV/2/3/4 threads would be good too!)
Back on topic though and I don't seem to find myself watching ITV News as much any more (or any news in fact). I'm not a hater of the yellow and grey car park look - think it's more the increased risk of Tory politicians appearing that put me off (I had to turn off the Six o'clock News tonight when it became clear Iain Duncan Smith would feature prominently!) I think we'd all agree though a shift to a slightly heavier agenda would be welcome at ITV News, and as the last revamp went the other way it seems to follow that this one should see a more newsier ITV News as these things seem to go around in cycles.
I should echo in Robs post that
creating a new thread for interesting topics is encouraged
and I have no issues with topics on new/high profile presenters appearing. Indeed for any event of interest, see separate posts for the BBC One Love 2013 idents as a case in point, they could be in the BBC One thread, but serve members better by being topics in their own right.
Now lets hear no more of it please.

Happy to respect Bail's decision, my original issue was being made to discuss reporters in the presenter/rota thread. I agree it probably deserved it's own thread.
I really think only one ITV News pres thread is needed if one cohesive look is being prepared - but again it's up to the mods and I'm quite happy to abide by their decisions.
In times gone by, you'd probably get a TVF member here or there who would share small tidbits of forthcoming relaunches. Hasn't happened with this one! Quite understandable though, and frankly it's probably getting too close to the relaunch date to reveal snippets - there's less than a week to go and we've managed to wait this long for it. I must say I'm looking forward to seeing it all, particularly the news.
I'm hoping at least some of the classic motifs remain in the new theme. If not, then I guess it'll be the first time in almost 18 years that ITV News won't be using elements of "The Awakening".

Just want to echo Bail's points - and I'll try and find a way of really flagging this up on the new site - we really do encourage new topics. Unless you're creating many per day. no-one is going to get penalised for creating one. We'd rather that, and have to merge a new topic into an existing one than the other way around.
To me, general correspondent/reporter/guest/other human talk does belong in the presenters thread. I imagine that the majority of us who aren't interested in the day-to-day rotas, would be interested in high profile changes such as todays and it would therefore be a very good candidate for a new topic.
For Monday, this will be closed and it'll be a single new thread for the ITV News rebrand. Once it's settled down then we'll look at whether to keep it running, split or start a general one again.

I have to say it's mightly impressive for us to know nothing of the rebrand apart from the colour. If it stays that way then Monday will be a big surprise, which is rare these days.

...and the logo, and the new channel name
...and that the content will still be LCD.

I'll be glad to see the back of the ambulance-siren 'nee-naa' music used for ITV News. Hopefully the new theme/arrangement will be more authoritative.

I just hope the bongs are retained and it would be nice to see the "Big Ben" clock face again.
Never liked the current ITV News look tbh and won't be sorry to see it go

I actually hope they revamp the current music. I know its nothing compared to The Awakening but nonetheless it is a cracking piece of music.

All this talk about the revamp of itv news, but how long does it take to make minor changes to studios etc , remove yellow panels from the regional desks paint the floor and change the background lighting and or reupholster the sofas,
And I know some regions are getting the new studios right away....
Will the regions be getting new cameras and lighting?
What is the lighting used in the regional studios and how long does it take to change colors ?
Sorry about all the questions but I thought I would ask them at once rather than than singly
