Discussion/news of new correspondents is not the same as inane fantasy schedules and rosters - it's a shame a mod can't tell the difference.

I agree - we've always talked about new reporter appointments in this thread with no problem before. It hardly comes under the same topic as Alastair Stewart's next shift.

Anyway, I think Rageh's a great signing. ITV News has had a load of great reporters join them over the last few years... Lucy Manning, Richard Edgar, Laura Kuenssberg, Carl Dinnen, etc.

Why not just axe the Presenters/Rotas thread. Poor journalists/presenters must have continuously burning ears. I'm sure the posters who comment in that thread wouldn't want any threads about them!

We have a thread for dull presenter talk: http://www.tvforum.co.uk/thenewsroom/itv-news-rotas-presenters-31220/

Use it please.

Nice impartial moderating there, ha!

I didn't realise moderators had to be impartial?

Didn't realise I said they needed to be.

Someone reported it, I agreed.

The presenter rota threads were set up for just that - not to discuss appointments of high profile reporters or key changes to the presenting personnel. To be fair Rageh Omars appointment is probably worthy of it's own thread, and I guess this big generic thread which has been around since the launch of the last revamp will be coming to an end next week in favour of a new one.

I'm sorry to add fuel to the fire and to veer this topic even more off point... but surely the Presenters & Rotas thread would be for just that: presenters? To be a pedant, he's a reporter, not a presenter.

I think you'll all find that Bail is indeed technically correct. I have been here long enough to remember when the first of these presenter threads was created by rts way back in February 2003 (blimey, almost a decade ago!!) and it was indeed called the Newsreader & Reporter Thread, as evidenced here: http://www.tvforum.co.uk/tvhome/newsreader-reporter-1783/. But, I do concur with Brekkie that this particular item should have been placed in its own thread. We always used to create new threads for new developments; generic threads were only ever for less interesting observations.

And if I may be so bold, speaking as a former long-time TV Forum moderator myself, it might be nicer not to question the decisions and pronouncements of moderators. It is Asa and the moderators who are in charge here, not the rest of us. I think we all should show them some respect.

So I'm expecting them to launch the first ITV News at Ten of the new look with an exclusive Rageh Omar report.

They usually like to do that kind of thing with a new look. Think they did it with the new look News at Ten.

I should echo in Robs post that creating a new thread for interesting topics is encouraged and I have no issues with topics on new/high profile presenters appearing. Indeed for any event of interest, see separate posts for the BBC One Love 2013 idents as a case in point, they could be in the BBC One thread, but serve members better by being topics in their own right.

Now lets hear no more of it please.

I was only remarking upon a forum moderator publicly denouncing someone's contribution as "dull".

Think the use of the word was probably unnecessary, but don't give two hoots either way, nor do you likely give two hoots about my opinion, it was just a remark.

EDIT: Posted after the gagging order above, Don't want any trouble!

I take it we will start a new thread for ITV News on 14th anyway?
